Drive bookings with these tips

Attract demand even during this difficult time

One promising travel trend on Airbnb is that searches for longer stays nearby have more than doubled worldwide. We have also added a filter for guests to search for listings with a flexible cancellation policy. People are turning to us for these types of reservations, which can provide the flexibility they need with the comforts of home. In the U.S., for example, bookings for four to six weeks increased by at least 30%.

If you haven’t made your space available for longer stays or switched to a flexible cancellation policy, now is a great time to consider changing your settings. Click the link below for five ways to get your space ready.

NEW: Attract longer stays to help your business

1. Demand for a more flexible cancellation policy

It's smarter to be on a Flexible cancellation policy right now and give guests a peace of mind.

What is it?

To help reduce the impact of COVID-19 on your hosting business, consider updating your cancellation policy. With more travel restrictions in place, it’s hard to plan right now. Being able to modify or cancel a reservation may encourage guests to go ahead and book. Plus, our data shows that listings on a flexible cancellation policy are much more likely to be booked than if they are on strict. Last-minute bookings are also on the rise and much less likely to be cancelled.

If you have a strict policy in place, you can switch to a flexible or moderate policy. This is how to edit your listings' cancellation policy in bulk:

  1. Go to your Listings page
  2. Click on the tick boxes on the left of each listing. You can also select all of your listings by clicking on the top most box.
  3. Once listings are selected, click on "Edit Selected" on the top right of your window.
  4. Scroll to find cancellation policy
  5. Select your preferred cancellation policy and click Save.

2. Longer stays discounts

If you haven’t made your space available for longer stays, now is a great time to consider changing your settings.

What is it?

Less than 50% of hosts offer a weekly or monthly discount, and those who do tend to get more bookings for longer stays. For hosts with more than one listing, you can make these adjustments across all of your listings at once from your Listings page.

Plus, if you add a monthly discount, your listings will be searchable by guests looking for listings for more than 28 nights
