From Amsterdam a 30 minute train ride will take you to the most famous bulb flower area in the Netherlands.

We start the tour by making a scenic bicycle ride in this area to see the breathtaking views of the flower fields when in season. Depending upon the season, you will see a landscape with colorful bulb flower carpets in almost any colour you can imagine.

Then we continue to the Keukenhof Gardens. Once a mere kitchen garden filled with vegetables and herbs, the Keukenhof - smack dab in the middle of tulip region - now has the distinction of being the world’s largest flower garden.

A garden with over more than 15 kilometers of footpaths and 32 hectares of gardens, where millions of bulbs are planted each year. Tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and other spring bulbs of a variety of vibrant colors carpet the grounds. Stroll through the English landscape garden, the Japanese country garden, and the historical garden. Take in the flower sculpture, based on an annual theme. The theme for 2022 is: Flower Classics. Flowers are used as classic symbols in art, architecture and design. The tulip for the start of spring and the rose as a symbol of love! Keukenhof brings these classics together.

Just don’t forget to bring your camera - this is an experience you won’t forget!

After your visit to the Keukenhof you cycle back to the train station and return by train to Amsterdam.

Hi my name is Hans and ever since I was a small boy, growing up in the east of the Netherlands, I have been fascinated by my country's history, landscape and culture.

In 1996 I completed a PhD in European history at the University of Amsterdam and since then I have been leading tours through Amsterdam and the Netherlands. It has been a constant pleasure for me to show off the most beautiful spots of the Netherlands to new arrivals and reveal just some of its charms, secrets and unbelievable stories.

My academic background has given me extensive knowledge of Europe's history and culture but my guiding experience has also included flower themed tours as well as waterland tours which explore the countryside of the Netherlands.

When you think of the Netherlands, you think of flowers, mills, cows and cheese. You will experience this in a small group. We meet at Amsterdam Station and head to Aalsmeer, where you visit the largest flower auction in the world. Our next stop will be the Cruquius pumping station that ensures dry feet and that cows can graze. On the Zaanse schans you will experience how people lived in the 19th century and experience the power of the wind.

Took a nice bike trip with Hans down to the flower region in late August. Hans gave us some nice insight into the region and did his best to find areas where there were actually flowers blooming. Only gave it a 4 star because this time of year is very limited with blooming flowers. That said what we did see, a private grower of Cannas (gorgeous) and the Dahlias were just awesome. Just be warned that this time of year 90% of the fields are not blooming so if you are expecting endless views of flowers as you ride, this isn't the time of year to go. But regardless it's still a super relaxed afternoon riding around a lovely countryside.

Haan was very knowledgeable and interactive. He arranged the day just for the two of us and at the beginning I misunderstood the map. He quickly responded to meet another place and made our day great
