X'se tagħmel

We’ll meet you at London Victoria, one of the capital's main railway stations with your tickets ready. We navigate the complexity of Britain’s train networks so you don’t have to!

After half an hour or so on a train, the sprawl of London’s suburbs will have melted into the High Weald - green and pleasant, one of the most beautiful parts of south-east England. Once off the train, we’ll walk and talk and introduce you to the places we love.

The castle in the village of Hever was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn - a woman who would shape the course of English history. King Henry VIII divorced his first wife in order to marry her, causing a political and religious earthquake.

In Chiddingstone, we'll show you one of the best-preserved Tudor villages in Britain. We'll also show you the mysterious lump of sandstone which gives the village its name - and explain the legends about its origins.

In between, tranquil forests, ancient churches ... and, if you're lucky, we'll meet the local alpacas!

When you’re ready, we’ll take you back towards the train. On the way, we can stop at one of our favourite English country pubs. We'll help you choose a local brew - the perfect end to a hike, we find!

Then the train will take us back into London and we’ll return you to the station where we started: relaxed, refreshed, ready to face the city again.
Other things to note
Don't forget to bring sensible shoes to walk in - ideally hiking boots to deal with any mud - and some food and drink for a day of walking!

I’ve been walking in the English countryside since I was a small boy, obsessed with maps. 30 years later, my wife Yulia and I escape from the bustle of London most weekends to go for a walk. As experienced journalists and broadcasters on radio and TV, we can explain the histories of the places we’re walking through and we can answer your questions about Britain today.

Fejn se tkun

We'll walk to Hever - the childhood home of King Henry VIII's second wife, Anne Boleyn.

We'll take you through forests and fields to Chiddingstone - a beautifully-preserved Tudor village with a castle, named after a mysterious rock tucked away off the main street.

We return to Hever, with a ticket to visit the 13th century castle & gardens. Once you've taken in the history, we'll end up in the village pub - named after the King, of course!
