X'se tagħmel

Block printing begins with carving designs into wooden blocks by hand before being dipped in dye
and printed onto fabric.
At Karomi, our hand block printing is the love child of an age-old craft and modern aesthetic. Our
printing is characterized by the unique method of “print over print” or layering, which results in a
very fine “textural and artistic” effect.
We are offering a 3- 3.5 hours experience which include the following:
a) An introductory talk on print at our design studio. (half hour)
b) hands-on experience of printing on handwoven silk at our printing unit – 45 minutes to 1
hour
c) tea/coffee and shopping experience at our design studio. Along with print they will also get
an exposure to innovative handwoven jamdani fabric which is Karomi’s specialty. (1 hour)
d) all participants will be given their printed handkerchiefs as mementos of their time spent at
Karomi.
Other things to note
since the medium of print is ACID print, there will be the smell of acetic acid at the
unit. Those attending the program should be okay with it.
