X'se tagħmel

After a quick meet & greet, we'll get you on bikes and merge with the locals on the bike lanes and streets in Copenhagen NV and Nørrebro. They are the up and coming areas in Copenhagen, and with a number of recent urban transformations taking place, we can trace the rise (and difficulties) of welfare in the Danish society.

This neighbourhood features lots of interesting new architecture, public spaces and emerging cultural and commercial activities, small creative businesses, entrepreneurs, – and of course hipsters.
The area also embodies the rise of the Danish welfare society since the early 20th century, featuring many social housing schemes, cooperative industries, working class and immigration history.

We’ll take short rides between many stops with explanations and discussions over buildings, spaces, places, neighbourhoods, people, culture and more. We’ll adapt the route and speed to everyone in the group as best possible.

After returning we’re inviting you on a beer or drink and a chat at Åbenbar, a cool, updated version of an old school Danish pub (værtshus).

Unless you are bringing your own bikes, we’ll provide high-quality bikes as well as optional helmets and bottled water to bring.
Other things to note
Copenhageners are not afraid of water, so in case of rain, we'll go through with the tour. I'll try as best possible to make stops out of the rain, and we might decide to take a break on a café.

Alice has a degree in philosophy and modern culture and has worked with urban planning at a strategic level. She has a profound interest in how architecture and city planning is influencing everyday life in the city.

Asser has experience teaching and practising architecture, and have made a living from his passion by founding beCopenhagen, a bike tour operator sharing the local's view on the world's most liveable city.

We both have a passion for debating and exchanging views on building design, urban spaces, and community.
And of course, we have a thing or two to add about the world's leading bike infrastructure! :)

We'll bike through the neighbourhood to visit projects by prominent architects as well as unnoticed gems of social housing schemes, all of which reveals something essential about the Danish welfare society, and the local community and lifestyle.
You'll be introduced to residential, industrial, commercial, healthcare, and social projects, public spaces, 'super bike lanes', and - not least - you'll experience daily life first hand.

Asser is a very knowledgeable and proud Dane. His interest in societal issues and how that translates into architecture is evident through the tour. As described, this tour is of a neighborhood in Copenhagen that isn’t generally on the tourist attraction list, so I highly recommend it for anyone interested in knowing more about real life in Copenhagen and those topics. I suggest you bring warm clothes, as there is more time spent off the bike than on the bike, and during my tour it was a bit windy and cold and I didn’t bring a jacket! Asser is very kind and as I wasn’t very confident on the bike, he paid a lot of attention to make sure I felt comfortable. We had great conversations, met some lovely people from different countries and learnt a lot about the area. Thank you Asser!

I had a wonderful time exploring Nørrebro and NV with my guide. He was knowledgeable, interested and easy-going. I was the only one that had booked the tour, so I got my own personal guide for a few hours! I really enjoyed learning more about other parts of Copenhagen than downtown, and I also appreciated how he connected architecture and city planning to larger societal perspectives and trends. Also, the bike I got was in good condition and the riding was calm and easy to follow. Would definitely recommend!

Don't miss this unique and genuinely captivating opportunity. Alice guided our group through fascinating neighborhoods where the real inhabitants of Copenhagen live, raise their children and interact with eachother. A veritable encyclopedia of urban infrastructure imagined and designed by Denmark's cutting-edge architects.

Buildings and architecture was a kind of different that what tourist guides normally show. A bit different perspective on the city, saying more about why those buildings were made the way they were made and what the principles in planing them were. Really interesting cycling tour. :)

It was a fantastic and surprising trip through Nordvest Copenhagens very varied and surprising neighborhoods. The trip was well structured, very bicycle friendly routes with fun and insightful background and anecdotes from the many small stops along the way. Highly recommended for a different and satisfyingly fresh experience of the different cultures and architecture in Copenhagen. The host was very friendly and professional on top! I felt very inspired and full of memories when I got home!
