Parrots in Paradise Sanctuary
Every parrot has a story. You’ll learn all about our rainbow-colored rescues in Kona’s only parrot sanctuary. We’ll start with our mission: to give every displaced parrot a nutritious diet, large space to fly, and a safe place to interact with other parrots (and people). Next, we'll take a walk around the sanctuary, where you can get to know the range of personalities of cockatoos, lovebirds, macaws, and more species. Throughout the tour, you will have many photo opportunities, especially with our well-trained parrots. Other things to note: Wear casual clothes, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and bring a camera. Parrots in Paradise Sanctuary is also home to two rescue dogs, two Holstein cows and two sulcata tortoise. While we like to keep our group sizes small to enhance a personal experience, we are open to hosting larger family/friend groups with more than six individuals.
Chocolate Coffee & Vanilla Farm Tour
Aloha and Welcome as we gather around the information table at Sharkey's 100-year old farmhouse in the historic plantation village of Papaikou. Sample our freshly brewed 100% Hawaiian coffee or cacao tea, grown right here on the farm. From there we begin an easy walk through our orchards where you'll learn about Hawaiian coffee growth and production. Interwoven the coffee are rows of cacao trees. Depending on the time of year, you can usually see tiny flowers and large, multi-colored pods hanging from trunks and branches. Long, heavy vanilla vines grow up the cacao trees, nature's perfect trellis! We'll show you how each vanilla orchid is delicately hand-pollinated to produce long "hands" of vanilla beans. We'll then proceed to the "Slab" where the pods are 'cracked' before the fermentation process. Next we move into the greenhouse where flats of newly planted seedlings just beginning their journey grow alongside large screens filled with coffee and cacao beans slowly drying to perfection. Finally we'll move into our certified Chocolate Kitchen where the Magic happens! Who wants a taste? Free samples! Other things to note Refreshments (coffee/tea/water/juice) Tastings & Snacks Included Parents, please supervise young children at all times There are no stairs to navigate and the restroom is equipped with handrails Adults $75 + $3.75 tax=$78.75 Children $35 + $1.75=36.75

I can customize any tour and add dates that are not on the calendar if schedule permits. Hiking, snorkeling, sunrise/sunset, lava viewing, custom proposal tours & more! Eight hour tours with transportation are also available :) Contact on ig @bathingsuitsandrainboots —————— We start by driving along one of the prettiest coastal roads on the island, close to the ocean and lava cliffs, near tidepools & spots with breathtaking ocean views that often include rainbows! We begin at a beautiful, lava cliff where I give various information about the island, share mo’olelo (stories) & tell about different endemic plants we will come across! Then we mosey on down to the newest black sand beach, created from the 2018 flow and swim in three different geothermal ponds, including one hard to find, picturesque pond in the jungle that will not disappoint! These healing, saline & mineral waters are the ONLY geothermal ponds on ANY of the Hawaiian islands. There is no lava flow to view here, the ponds are heated by the magma underground making natural hot tubs! The springs range from about 99-105 degrees depending on the time of day. Please note, this tour used to be a sunrise tour but now it is held in the afternoon. Everything is the same except the time. Off Grid Farm to Table Brunch and Farm Tour
Join me on my off-Grid Homestead in the jungle of Hawaii and learn what it takes to develop a property from raw jungle to a modest homestead. We will explore the homestead upon arrival and talk about all the trials and tribulations my partner and I have gone through developing the homestead to this point. We are 4 years into the development and the kitchen was the first milestone to be fully completed. We are still working diligently on developing the property and our living spaces. We have done all of the work ourselves at our own pace. As a Chef and homesteader, I will teach you about all of the different and amazing produce the Island of Hawaii has to offer and the items I am working on growing on the homestead. Once we have completed the tour of the homestead, we will make our way to the kitchen where I will prepare brunch and talk story. Since the homestead is developing, it has yet to produce a full harvest, for our homestead brunch I will source our bounty partially from the homestead, local farms and foraging in the area. Feel free to bring adult beverages for yourself or offerings you would enjoy including in our brunch experience. We are currently expecting a new addition to the homestead. We will be having a baby boy at the end of January 2024 and won't be doing experiences the last few weeks of January and will reopen bookings after March.
