The shipping container has beautiful views in nearly every direction. Peaceful property situated on 5-acres at the end of a cul-de-sac, bordering thousands of acres of natural desert. This tastefully decorated residence is the perfect place to relax. It has a new Serta PillowTop queen size mattress /boxspring bed, LED lighting, and a compact Ikea kitchen (refrigerator, cook plate, microwave, sink & coffee maker with coffee/filters provided). Wifi Internet access available. Bathroom includes a full-size bathtub/shower, vanity/sink and toilet. A 10-foot wide patio door faces the swimming pool. On the south side is a 5-foot wide patio door. Table and patio chairs in landscaped area near pool. Shared pool access available in season (usually April-October), by arrangement. (Hosts usually provide a very brief pool safety and pool cover operation demonstration.) Also includes an outside hot shower adjacent to pool. Enjoy scenic views from inside/outside or hike/mountain bike from your doorstep! Las Cruces museums, restaurants, fitness/yoga facilities, stores and other businesses are just a short drive away. The shipping container is located just 2 miles from the Dona Ana Mountains portion of the Organ Mountains - Desert Peaks National Monument, a popular mountain biking and hiking area. The monument can be quickly reached on foot or mountain bike without crossing a paved road! The Downtown Farmer's Market (Wednesdays & Saturdays, 8:30 am-1 pm), Las Cruces museums, and numerous restaurants are 10-15 minutes away! White Sands National Monument is a pleasant 50-minute drive. Nature abounds in the immediate vicinity of the shipping container. Coyotes are seldom seen, but often heard at night. Gambel's quail constantly roam nearby. (In spring or summer, it's sometimes possible to view them with their young, very cute.). A couple of resident road runners "patrol" the property. Several pyrrhuloxia (desert cardinals) live nearby (beautiful birdsong). Occasionally, red-tailed hawks fly overhead. Great horned owls can sometimes be heard late at night and have been seen a few times. Black-chinned hummingbirds often visit the numerous desert willow flowers in season. Black-tailed jackrabbits and cottontails are frequent visitors. Several types of lizards live nearby, with the beautiful horned lizard occasionally making an appearance. (Rattlesnakes live in the desert, of course, but are seldom seen.)

We're an active couple who enjoy traveling and making new friends. Some of our favorite travels include camping and star gazing at the edge of the Sahara in Morocco, wandering the grounds of a Buddhist temple in Hue, Vietnam and body surfing in the Atlantic at Hortin Plage, France. One of us hails from Belgium and the other lived there for many years. Yanick is an artist (jewelry & photography) and Tim does something with computers. When we are not creating art, spoiling our dogs or wandering off trail in the nearby mountains, we often go in search of the perfect cup of coffee (cappuccino for Yanick, double espresso long shots for Tim) and a delicious dessert.
