The Cure is a residential area of Florence, located immediately north of the old town.
In ancient times, this area north of Porta San Gallo was open countryside and only in the nineteenth century was highly urbanized. In the square of the Cure was one of the many duty barriers for those who arrived in the city. The zone name is derived from "curandaie", ancient name for the washerwomen, who were also abbreviated as "cures" and rinsed clothes in the river Mugnone. From Piazza delle Cure started the first omnibus town line, which, from Freedom Square, arrived in Piazza della Signoria.
Cure square in a market is held daily.
