This is a character cottage which has been stylishly enhanced to provide guests with a range of modern conveniences whilst retaining some of the original 1880 features. There is also a recently refurbished wash house which provides guests with additional facilities including utility/boot room, second shower room, equipment drying storage room, secure cycle storage and maintenance area, quiet room. There is a garden and sun terrace with views across the Leven Estuary. Access is via 15 steps.

The cottage has two double bedrooms with king size beds, the beds can be split into two small singles if this is required. There are two modern shower rooms one the first floor alongside the first bedroom and one in the wash house. The second bedroom is in the attic. Downstairs the open plan living area provides a fitted kitchen with a dining area and a lounge with a feature fire place and a wood burning stove. Gas, Electric and fuel for the stove is included in the price for the cottage. There is fast fibre internet connection and a Smart TV which gives guests access to the full range of catch up TV channels. Films are also available to guests who have an Amazon Prime or Netflix account.

Guests have sole use of the whole cottage including the wash house and the lovely terraced garden with plenty of space to enjoy the elevated views across the Leven Estuary to Cartmel Fell. There is a sun terrace with patio dining furniture.

Access to the cottage is via 15 steps. Inside the cottage the stairs to the upper floors are narrower and steeper than in a modern house. The second bedroom is located in the attic and has some low beams. The wash house has low doors and a low roof beam on the first floor. One large or two small dogs are welcome but we ask that they are restricted to the ground floor of the cottage. There is unrestricted on street parking out side the cottage.

The cottage is close to Holker Hall and gardens, Cartmel Village, Coniston Water and Lake Windermere. The Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Lakeside Steamers are only two miles from the cottage. There are some fascinating walks nearby along the Leven Estuary. For cyclists the National Cycle routes 70 (Walney to Wear) and 700 (Morecambe Bay) pass the front door of the cottage. Off road cyclists can access miles of tracks of varying difficulty nearby. The cottage owners can provide advice on suitable routes and can provide guided rides if this is preferred by guests. The nearby Coniston Fells and Grizedale Forest provide miles of varied walks for hill walking enthusiasts and families.

I am married to John, and have two grown up children, and two grandsons. I am an ex youth worker but I now work in retail for part of the week. I enjoy skiing and sing with Arnside Choral Society. I sometimes blow the dust off my bicycle and go for a short ride, but it is John who is the serious cyclist, although we do also own and ride a tandem.- there is nothing serious about that! - It is a foolish machine! We feel fortunate that our working lives have brought us to Cumbria 27 years ago. It is a wonderful place to live and work, and the people are so friendly. We enjoy the slower pace of life that living here brings.
