“Tobar nan Iasgair” means “Well of the fisherman”, for centuries, fishing boats would anchor here to fill up with fresh water.
It’s a spacious family home, there's a huge sitting / dining room with wonderful views across Loch Linnhie, Benderloch, Ben Cruachan, and to the ferry terminal, and Island's, comings and goings.

There is a TV, games, VHS video's

My place is ideal for couples, families, or groups of friends. There is a standard double in one room, and a small double in the other room. There is a third room which has a lot of books in it. This room has a cot, and 2 single beds. There are some steps into the house from the porch, at the back door there are 2 steps. Once inside there is level access to all the rooms. The kitchen has many family items as it isn't only a "holiday home"

Lismore is a very small Island, it has 1 shop and 1 cafe. The car ferry runs from Oban 4x per day Monday - Friday and times change Saturday Sunday and the service is less frequent. There is a passenger ferry leaving from Port Appin. All ferry times can be found on the CalMac website.
Please ask about accessibility.

The house has the most amazing views, the Oban /Lismore ferry arrives just in front of the house so you can sit and watch the comings and goings, sheep going to market, the post van collecting mail, people going shopping.
The local shop and post office is a "must" the hub of the island, it is 2.5 km from the house and is very well stocked.
Another 1km from the shop, further inland there is the cafe,library, museum and heritage centre.
The Church of St Moluag, is a further 1km,Moluag settled on Lismore around 562, having trained at Bennnchar, modern day Bangor.
The ferry leaves almost from the house and takes you straight into the town of Oban, this is a fun thriving port with lovely scenery, pubs, cafe's bars shops etc
Or take the ferry at the other end, go to Port Appin, and have a meal in the Pier house hotel world famous for its seafood. Go to Airds hotel, walk cycle to Cregan Inn or the Old Inn or Stalker castle cafe and gift shop.
Port Appin has a well stocked shop and a gift/craft shop which sells many local crafts.
Explore Appin the setting for Robert Louis Stevenson's "Kidnapped" see the hills and Glens of the Stewart's of Appin and speak to locals about the mystery surrounding the "Appin murder"
Lismore is ideally situated for taking day trips to the mainland, Fort William, Oban, visit Mull, Iona, Kerrera, Lochgilphead, Inveraray, Inverness, and Skye.
All doable from the island, with a bit of planning and ingenuity!
Ski at Glencoe or the Nevis range, hike over "the devils staircase," visit Glencoe and find the secret valley, climb Ben Nevis, or walk part of the "West highland way"
Use "Explore Lismore" land rover tours with Fabulous picnic lunch.

I am from the stunning Island of Lismore where I live with my partner Donald. I returned to the island in 2001 after spending some years living different places, Oban, Glasgow, Bude, Boscastle, London, Crete and The Nederland’s.
I run a little, and cycle, I’ve done a few 10k races in the last few years, last year Glasgow and the year before I ran in the Cork harbour marathon.
I left my job a few years ago and since then have been self-employed doing various jobs on the island and locally on the mainland as well as some crafts and Airbnb.
Living on a small island has its challenges, it’s extremely rural, the weather isn't the best, unless rain is your thing, the ferries sometimes don't run and there isn't a Pub or restaurant...There's a cafe open daily in summer 11- 4, and sometimes there are evening meals on a Thursday or Friday night.
The Pier house Hotel Restaurant and bar are directly beside the Port Appin/Lismore ferry. Airds hotel also has a restaurant.
There is an amazing sense of freedom, our young grandchildren love it here. The road is single track and though the cottage is close to other houses, it’s still quiet and peaceful. The views are stunning and there is an incredible history. People are kind and generous and it’s a joy and privilege to live here.
We love to be here but also like to have weekends away or days on "The (Website hidden by Airbnb) an Island with a smashing ferry service, 2 services!!! One at either end!
The Cal Mac car ferry takes you directly to Oban (50 minutes). The Argyll and Bute council passenger ferry which takes you to Port Appin (7minutes)
Port Appin is just off the A828 halfway between Oban and Fort William.
The Island is very accessible, but it is still an island and there are storms, fog, engine trouble, tidal difficulties and of course ferry times, so sometimes you have to be flexible and relaxed in your approach as Island life can mean things don’t always go to plan and there’s no point in getting harassed, so my motto is: Go with the flow!
