Stay at The Rozak House, one of Australia's most famous pieces of tropical architecture. Intelligently designed to communicate with the striking surroundings of Top End Australia.

It's a large tropical house that sleeps up to 6 people in two wings, with a central living pavilion & kitchen. It's 100% off-grid for sustainable living; there is no air-conditioning, but perched on a private hill the house catches all breezes.

The Rozak House is one of a kind - come, stay & experience.

L-ispazju
The elevated house is divided into three separate sections, the main living area with kitchen, dining room, and living room, and two bedroom wings, each of which has a bathroom and a full bath. There are three queen sized bed, and multiple hammocks - a deliberate part of the design, as they are the coolest and most comfortable way to sleep in the tropical conditions. The western wing also has a large desk and study area - perfect for writing.

Each section of the house is only one room deep so as to maximise breezes and provide a view from every room. It feels larger than it actually is - while only 200 square meters, it's 30 meters from end to end. The wings of the houses are connected by outside, undercover walkways. Please note there are steps unsuitable for wheelchairs, people with mobility issues or very young children.

The house breathes through slatted floors and two thirds of the walls that are made of secure screens. Large reflective roof sections overhang, blocking sun and capturing precious rain in the wet season. Water conservation is critical during the dry season.

The building can be experienced through the progression of the day. The sun wakes up and bathes the eastern sleeping wing in red morning light. Then as the day moves on, the central living pavilion captures the midday sun, powering the solar panel clad roof and storing energy for the whole house. The western sleeping wing is warmer in the afternoon but protects the rest of the house from afternoon rays.

In accordance with the philosophy of Troppo Architects - “a shelter to be able to better interact with our surroundings” - The Rozak House is perfect for people who want to experience nature and the true ecology of the Northern Territory - animal lovers, architecture buffs, or people who are looking for a getaway embedded in a unique experience of sustainable living.

The motto of the Rozak House is to 'Live Open'. We believe this is a rare opportunity to really live in the magnificent Northern Territory landscape and we strive to make your stay comfortable, memorable and exceptional.

FAQ

- This is a non-traditional building and at least two thirds of the outside walls are secure screens.
- There is no air-conditioning, but there are fans and a pleasant breeze coming up the ridge.
- Since the house runs entirely on solar energy, power conservation is a must, especially at night or during the overcast wet season.
- Heavy winds and rain can penetrate the south-facing screens during the wet season.
- You have the whole property to yourself, but it is not completely isolated.

Aċċess għall-klijenti
Guests have exclusive access to the entire property - 61 acres of bushland, connected to the road by a long sealed driveway.

There is a large gravel parking area and around the house is mostly clear of vegetation. At this stage there are no defined walking tracks on the property and guests are advised to stay out of the surrounding bush for their own safety.

Lake Bennett, Northern Territory, l-Awstralja

While sitting privately on top of a hill, The Rozak House, is not completely isolated. Lake Bennett is a small community, 80KM south of Darwin. Darwin has all amenities and before you leave town, it’s recommended that you prepare with your supplies. There are no shops at Lake Bennett, however the local Resort does have a restaurant and bar.

You are close to Litchfield National Park and there are a wealth of natural features and experiences to enjoy. It is easy to do daytrips to Litchfield from the house. 30 minutes south of Lake Bennett is Adelaide River which has a general store, fuel stations, and the Adelaide River Inn (Pub). The town of Batchelor is also under half an hour away at the entrance Litchfield National Park. There are a few food options at Batchelor which we will detail in the compendium for the property.
