It is within easy walking distance of the village, the shops, and all local amenities. Glenbeigh is a walker’s paradise.
Rossbeigh Beach is excellent for swimming.

Glenbeigh is situated on the famous Ring of Kerry (N70). It is the ideal base from which to explore the rest of the Kingdom of Kerry as we are within easy access to the other coastal towns and villages, being 10 minutes from Killorglin and Kells, 25 minutes from Caherciveen, and 30 minutes from Killarney.

Glenbeigh is a coastal village and is just a 5-minute drive from the famous Rossbeigh Beach which is 7 kilometers in length and one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Ireland.

Rossbeigh Beach is a beautiful sandy Blue Flag beach. It is ideal for swimming. windsurfing, sailing, horse-trekking, sailing, sea fishing, shore fishing, and many other water sports and activities are available.


Burkes Activity Centre is only a short drive away. There is a wide range of activities which include Horse Trekking, Horse riding on the beach.

Glenbeigh and its surrounding areas offer a wide variety of walking routes from quiet country roads to coastal areas...to The Kerry Way and the ascent of Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil. Perched high above Caragh Lake lies the naturally beautiful district of Glencar which is a popular section of the Kerry Way Walking Route. It also offers some of the most picturesque picnic areas imaginable.

The nearest 18-hole golf course is Dooks Golf Course which has spectacular views over Dingle Bay. The next golf course is Killorglin Golf Course. This course enjoys magnificent panoramic views of the majestic Mcgillicuddy Reeks Mountain Range (including Carrauntoohil, Ireland's highest mountain) on one side and on the other golfers can take in the breathtaking sights of Dingle Bay and the Slieve Mish Range beyond.

There are many rivers in Glenbeigh where you can fish. Also, Killorglin is situated on the river Laune, an excellent salmon fishing river. The river Laune boasts a run of salmon and the river also drains the largest of the Killarney Lakes, which is known for its brown trout. Caragh Lake lies just on the outskirts of Killorglin town. The lake is five miles long by one mile wide and is well known to artists, walkers, and lovers of nature alike. This freshwater lake with its backdrop of the Mcgillicuddy Reeks Mountain range and the lower Caragh River is renowned for salmon and trout fishing and for various water sports.

''Star Wars filming on Skelligs'

The Skelligs scenes from the most recent Star Wars film Episode VII "The Force Awakens" were filmed on the islands in 2014. The Skelligs feature prominently at the end of the movie where the audience is reintroduced to Star Wars' original hero Luke Skywalker. Filming took place again in 2015 for Episode VIII "The Last Jedi".

Glenbeigh is a truly magical place often referred to as “The Jewel in the Ring of Kerry”. It is the ideal holiday location. Enjoy the six miles of golden, sandy, blue flag Rossbeigh Beach or the peace and beauty of the rivers and lakes. Glenbeigh is cozily tucked into the surrounding horseshoe of hills and the Seefin Mountains. The Caragh River and the Behy River flow on either side of the village into Castlemaine Harbour.

The mountain scenery here is magnificent, and the circuit of the hills from Seefin to Drung Hill is called the “Glenbeigh Horseshoe” and is part of the greater “Kerry Way”, one of Kerry’s finest mountain walks. However, you prefer to spend your holidays, whether it’s birdwatching, walking, golf (on the famous Dooks Golf Links), fishing, hang gliding, surfing or kayaking, horse trekking on Rossbeigh Beach, or just relaxing, Glenbeigh really does have it all.
