This historic cottage is centrally located between Bonavista & Trinity. Built in 1914, the front bedroom & kitchen feature original low beam ceilings. From the living room, queen bedroom or back deck , view the sun rise or colourful fishing boats pass by. The nearby beach has "Fool's Gold" & 560,000,000 year old fossils. The corner store, take-outs, wharf, bank, grocery/liquor store are less than a 5 min. walk away. Lookout Park was formed by the glaciers & Port Union is across the harbour.

L-ispazju
The house is located on a lane off the Main Road and known locally as Hiscock's Point. It was built in 1914 by the Society of United Fishermen for the 5 month pregnant widow of one of 4 men from Catalina lost in the Great Sealing Disaster. His name "Walter Pierce" is listed at the Sealers Museum in Elliston. The Sealing Disaster helped William Coaker unite the fishermen & he formed the Fishermen's Union . He sold the fish on behalf of the fishermen & built the town of Port Union on the other side of Catalina Harbour - the "Only Union Built Town in North America". This broke the merchant's control & changed the direction of NL history forever.

Private and peaceful, it's centrally located to the peninsula's historic sites & trails.. Easy check-in with keypad.

Aċċess għall-klijenti
Enjoy sitting on the protected side veranda & the connecting front deck with a view of the wharf, afternoon sun & the evening sunset. Enjoy the morning sunrise with it's unobstructed harbour view from the waterside deck. BBQ & picnic table provided. At night you can toast marshmallows in the fire pit.

Host can direct you to the many attractions nearby:

Lookout Park: With rock smoothed by glaciers - 500' across and 200' sloping to the water - it is one of the natural wonders of NL. The park is great for swimming with an enclosed area for small children, playground, volleyball court & canteen with picnic benches. If you're up to it, climb the stairs to the top of the Lookout for a panoramic view of the harbour.

Port Union: located on the harbour's south side, this National Historic District built by Sir William Coaker is the only "Union Built Town in Canada".

Elliston: the Root Cellar capital of the world with a beautiful sandy beach & the annual Puffin Festival. Visit the "Home From The Sea" Sealers Museum for a unique look at our NL heritage.

Bonavista: discovered in 1497 by John Cabot. Visit the many historic sites -including the Lighthouse, Ryan Premises, & Mockbeggar Plantation or walk along Church St. - sample the incredible food and local artisans.

Trinity: Enjoy the Pageant & Rising Tide Theatre. Dine at the many excellent restaurants. From there, continue on to the Random Passage site.
