Nel's Stone Cottage is a restored Edwardian gem straight out of an old English storybook. This lovely home's unpretentious charm allows one to retreat from today's stressful world. Recently restored for safety and function, it is perfectly situated for fisherman, creatives, contemplatives, or those on longer term sabbatical. Fish the Boulder River from the property on into the confluence of the Yellowstone River. Walk back to town and enjoy the shopping and nightlife.

This historic stone home was recently restored by a team of folks dedicated to historical preservation. All systems have been modernized for your safety and comfort, while preserving each architectural feature, so the house can tell it's own engaging story. The home is comfortably furnished in period style. The day parlor has a small desk for our working guests, and may be closed off with French Doors for less distraction. The evening parlor invites movie watching, or reading. A fully modernized kitchen, a period bath (non handiapped accessible), two bedrooms, two parlors, a dining room and a foyer complete the interior. Great quality beds feature organic cotton or bamboo fiber bedding. A glassed-in porch that wraps around two sides of the home invites you to enjoy your morning beverage there. The home stays cool in the summer, and toasty in the winter.

High speed WIFI. An in wall USB charging port is provided enclosed in a turn of the century wall telephone box that has either a USB mini cable or a firewire cable available. A bookcase filled with books by regional authors and DVDs is provided. A TV with built in DVD player is available. TV has HD cable in case you want to hook your laptop to it. TV also has Roku setup, which allows you to log into your favorite media accounts.

This property is ideally situated for fishermen(women) , writers, film makers, contemplatives, recreation seekers, and those needing lodging for longer term sabbatical. You can walk down the hill to the Boulder River and cool your feet in the icy waters- or catch a native trout that is fresh and firm for your dinner. Picnicking, outdoor yoga, plein air studies, bird watching, fishing, kayaking and many other outdoor activities are all easily done from here. From the porch, watch the magnificent bald eagles and deer that frequent the property. You have the run of almost 4 acres of property, including the waterfront below the house. Fine dining is available within walking distance of the property, as it is located on the edge of town. Get out and enjoy some of the world's finest hiking, biking, or fantastic photos ops in the area during the day. Then walk down to the local eating and drinking establishments and walk home.

PLEASE NOTE: There are three bodies of water on the property, and the inherent danger of these swift moving waters make this property UNSUITABLE for small children. We do not accept reservations for parties traveling with children under the age of 12. The home is not child proof. Also, the presence of large raptors poses a danger to pets. NO PETS are allowed on or in the property. NO SMOKING allowed in the home. Pets and smoking cause difficulties for future guests with allergy issues. Host is very committed to maintaining a Pet dander free space because of severe allergies. A security camera is by each exterior entrance which allows us only to see who enters the house, and there are no cameras on the interior of the home, anywhere. This helps us secure the property, and helps keep you safe. An extra bed can be made available for an upcharge if necessary. Please inquire.

A serene, safe little western town on the edge of one of the West's most beautiful river drainages, it is the perfect jumping off point for exploring both the Yellowstone and Boulder Wilderness areas. The Boulder River drainage has long been a haven for artists and entertainment business workers who need to reconnect with nature. Very safe residential area! Walk to the commercial district to browse art galleries, partake of four- star dining, or walk across the street to the public pool in the park. Horse shoe game pits in the park also. This area offers fantastic recreational opportunities. You can learn more by logging onto the Big Timber, MT Chamber of Commerce website. It is a wonderful site that offers tons of info about all of the recreational activities in the area.

Raised on a cattle ranch, I have enjoyed a career in the arts that has taken me around the world for 40 years. While traveling, I am always grateful for homey lodging, rather than a sterile hotel room, and I want to offer my guests the same . I always appreciate returning home to MT, where the landscape allows me to breathe, and the people are good. Meaningful conversation with others, traditional music, food, books and wholesome living are the things I treasure most in life. The thing I most dislike is boredom. I love working with others who have innovative ideas and see the world through the lens of possibility. The motto I try hard to live by is, "Kindness hurts no one, and helps everyone.”
