Comfortable and spacious, self-contained twin bedroom with en-suite shower room in the heart of the southern Dales. Numerous paths, bridleways and cycle trails in beautiful scenery. Traditional country pubs either in the village - just a few minutes walk away - or further afield as part of a day out. Friar's Garth, originally a farmhouse belonging to Bolton Priory, is now a quiet and secluded group of houses at the eastern end of the village.

L-ispazju
The bedroom and en-suite are self contained and on the first floor, and they feature sloping ceilings and low beams. There is electric heating and the en-suite has WC, wash basin and shower.

The property is 5 minutes walk up from the village centre and guests will be able to buy breakfast in either the Old Barn Café from 0930 or the Lister Arms from 0800. Both of the pubs in the village also provide lunch and evening meals (we also provide a jar of granola, as well as tea and coffee in the room for a quick DIY breakfast). There is a small fridge in the room with milk, and a kettle for making hot drinks.

There are 2 matching single beds which can be pushed together and covered with a super-king sized duvet if required (please note that the mattresses do no not zip together though). There are a couple of comfy chairs and a TV, and enough space to put up a travel cot if you are bringing one.

To get to the room you need to climb an outside flight of stone steps; these are worn and uneven in places and we wouldn’t recommend them for anyone with limited mobility or for unsupervised young children.

There is space on the driveway for parking and we can provide access on request to the garage where there is space for a couple of bikes, climbing gear etc. We can also sort out somewhere to dry wet gear if you need it and provide access to a washing machine and drying rack.

Respectfully, we do don’t allow smoking either in the room or anywhere on the property, including in the gardens and driveway. We are happy to welcome dogs though, and have a dog and two cats of our own.

Friars Garth Farmhouse was built in the seventeenth century for the local manager from Bolton Priory which owned half of Malham at that time. After that, it was a working farm until just a few decades ago. It is situated on the outskirts of the village and surrounded by meadows.

We look forward to welcoming you and looking after you!

Aċċess għall-klijenti
Guests have access to the studio and parking area, and can also store bikes or climbing equipment in the garage by prior arrangement. Similarly, we can provide access to the utility room in the same outbuilding for storing muddy boots and drying wet clothes.

Malham, England, ir-Renju Unit

Malham is a traditional and picturesque village in the Yorkshire Dales, and a great starting point for numerous walks or rides. The Pennine Way passes through it. The foot of Malham Cove, an 80m (260’) high limestone cliff, is an easy 20 minute walk from the house, and there are also easy walks to the small glade and waterfall at Janet’s Foss, and the larger falls in the narrow gorge at Gordale Scar. For longer days out on foot on Malham Moor there is the tranquil Malham Tarn, and views from the top of Fountains Fell, or bridle ways across towards Settle or Kilnsey Crag, or the ‘Monks Trod’ footpath down into Arncliffe.

Heading over the hills in the car, the market town of Settle is 20 minutes away. There are shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs and you can catch the famous Settle-Carlisle trains from here. Alternatively, driving down the dale brings you to Gargrave in about 20 minutes, and Skipton 10 minutes beyond that. Skipton is a bigger market town with shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs and there are frequent trains and buses to Leeds and Bradford. Short drives from Malham will also take you over to Wharfedale (Bolton Abbey, Hetton, Litton, Kettlewell), or over to the 3 peaks area (Horton, Clapham and Ingleton).

Road cyclists, mountain bikers, riders, climbers and potholers will also find plenty to do in the immediate vicinity.

Meg and I brought up our 3 children in a village outside York and then here in Malham, after a brief spell in Australia. I love travelling in Europe and trying to pick up foreign languages. I also love art and music - and I draw and play guitar. The whole family is into outdoor sports of one sort or another and between us, and at different times, these have included climbing, caving, diving, surfing, mountain biking, skiing and walking. I'm self employed and work from home.
