If you are looking for a standard, uninteresting villa and pool rental, then stop reading now! If you like stunning close sea views, abundant wildlife including many birds, wild coastal forest, tropical gardens, sunset and moonset directly in front of your studio, beautiful beaches to either side of the property, peace and quiet, discreet but helpful hosts, homemade ice creams and many other personal touches presented with care and attention, then come and stay with us and enter another world!

We are an "approved COVID 19 accommodation" listed by the Government of Saint Lucia on its website so you are very welcome to come and stay with us!

Feel like getting away from it all?

The Treehouse Garden Studio is the ground floor of the Treehouse, totally separate from the apartment called the Treetop Apartment on the top floor. The apartments are totally independent the one from the other, well insulated against noise and completely private with separate entrances.

The Treehouse Garden Studio is set at the top of terraced tropical gardens offering wonderful views of the Caribbean sea with its spectacular sunsets and moon sets and frequent rainbows. Many guesthouses in this area do not have direct views of the sunset and moon set and few are as close to the sea as the Treehouse. Our position is something really unique. Even local people are amazed when they see our view! Bordering the tropical garden is the wild coastal forest with its multitude of birds and other wildlife and from the Treehouse Studio balcony you can see pelicans skimming the waters below, an osprey hunting fish and fishermen fishing from their boats.

The terraced garden in front of the studio is home to a variety of different sculptures and many fixtures and fittings in the studio have been created using wood from the garden or beaches or other salvaged materials.

The space consists of an open plan living and sleeping area including standard double bed, easy chairs and kitchen. There is a separate indoor bathroom with a shower and WC and a balcony with teak chairs and table overlooking the terraced garden and the sea. If you leave the large triple doors to the studio open at night - which all of our guests do as it is very safe here - then it is like sleeping outside in the garden. There are mosquito net curtains which can be drawn across the triple door area and all windows have mosquito screens fitted. An elevated wooden walkway leads from the balcony down across the terraced garden to the private sun deck with its sun loungers, umbrella, table and chairs. There is also an outdoor shower under a large tree surrounded by tropical plants which is great for washing off when you come back from the beach. There is an outdoor barbecue area and a private garden entrance from the car parking space.

Doing all of the cleaning and maintenance work ourselves, you will not be disturbed during your stay with us unless we can be of help or assistance in which case a quick whatsapp message will reach us immediately. The cabin will be thoroughly cleaned before your arrival and hand sanitizer provided. During lockdown we have re-varnished and re-painted all surfaces as well as renovating all the sinks. We have installed beautiful hand crafted wooden sinks in the kitchen and bathroom, each with its tap made of driftwood. We have also made new rugs from old cruise ship mooring ropes.

Pablo and I are committed environmentalists and our passion for nature drives everything we do. Unlike other guest houses we never use pesticides or insecticides but work with natural pest solutions. A network of 15 fishpools provide an environmental solution to prevent mosquitoes breeding as the fish eat any mosquito larvae and therefore drastically reduce the mosquito population - this is in direct contrast to the common local practice of fogging for mosquitos with a spray made of neurotoxins and which is clearly toxic to people and wildlife alike.

We live totally off-grid which means we harvest our own rainwater and produce our own energy. The rainwater is collected in water tanks and double filtered before use in the house. It is cleaner than bottled water (which is polluted by its own plastic bottles) and tap water. Our power is produced by solar panels placed on the roof of our own house at the top of the plot.

We deliberately do not have a swimming pool. The dangers of swimming in chlorine are now well recognised, especially for anyone with allergies, skin problems or asthma, but it is obvious that swimming in chemicals cannot be good for anyone. Salt water pools are not a solution since they simply use salt to generate chlorine and the end result is the same. With two beautiful beaches either side of our house you can swim in a totally natural, chemical free environment whenever you want and enjoy the beauty of the undersea world with its corals, fish and other amazing wildlife. One beach is a secluded cove, 10-15 minutes walk away, usually deserted with excellent snorkelling and the other beach is 10 minutes by car (or you can kayak from Marigot Bay or swim round from the secluded cove) and is a wide sandy beach perfect for swimming and enjoying the waves.

We have planted our garden to encourage birds and other wildlife onto our plot and we have left two thirds of our large property wild as a conservation area. We are also planting many native plants such as orchids and air plants in our plot which have been rescued from development areas in order to protect them from destruction.

We love using driftwood, corals, shells and other items collected from the beaches around the house. The shower curtain in the studio is made from hand made fishing nets given to us by the fishermen on the beach below. Our curtain poles are made from driftwood and our curtains are made from antique 100 year old French linen sheets and upcycled vintage coffee sacks. The bed cover is made from antique hemp grain sacks from Hungary. We make our own glasses by cutting old wine and rum bottles and we have made upholstery covers from vintage coffee and potatoe sacks. We have now made beautiful rugs from cruise ship moorning ropes for all our apartments.

We have inherited a commercial ice cream maker and as Pablo loves ice cream we always have a selection of homemade ice creams based on local fruits and nuts in season which we invite guests to share if they wish. We just ask a small fee to cover ingredient costs and work on an honesty box principle where you settle for what you have consumed when you leave. They have proved very popular! We are now making rum and banana bread and banana rum. We also have a stock of local beer for guests to purchase.

We have considerable respect for our guests privacy and not only do we give you your own "space" when you are staying here but we do all our cleaning and maintenance work ourselves so you will not be disturbed by staff in the studio or gardens.

We have a family of three black labradors who live with us and who love visitors as well as a family of five goats who keep the grass down along the roadside - so much nicer than using a strimmer! We have just rescued a local horse which was being mistreated. Her name is Ten and she is blind in one eye but wonderfully sweet natured. She grazes on the field below the house and sleeps at night in a stable at the bottom of the steps to our house. She loves meeting guests especially if they offer her a banana! You can see photos of her enjoying swimming on the small beach below our house.

We work with local Saint Lucians who can offer a number of land and sea tours which are not on any tourist "programme". These are focused on local experiences and off the beaten track adventures. Once you have booked Airbnb will allow you to send us your email address and we can send a description of these out to you. We never take commissions and only promote local individuals, not companies.

The local watersports shop in Marigot Bay has offered our guests a special week's deal where you can use any of their equipment for a very reasonable price - including paddleboards, kayaks, snorkelling equipment and hobicats.

We have written a detailed information sheet which we send out to our guests once they have booked with us with recommendations on where to go and what to do as well as a description of tours which can be designed with local partners. We can also assist you with car rental with a reliable local family-owned company and taxi collection from the airport by Anthony, our amazing tour guide.

Also available for hire is our spare car, a small 4x4 Suzuki Jimny which is ideal for the road conditions here. Let us know if you want more details and as it is very popular with guests then you are advised to book it early!

This is a really special opportunity to be private guests in our home and experience our lifestyle.

Our property is one of the few on the island to offer a pesticide and insecticide free environment. Because of this we have abundant wildlife (frogs, lizards, moths, butterflies, birds, etc) and few mosquitos.

We also make homemade icecreams for our own consumption which we are happy to make available to our guests for a small fee to cover ingredients! Simply note down when you take an ice cream and settle up with us before leaving.

We have a special agreement with the water sports shop on the beach in Marigot Bay for an all-inclusive price for use of any of their watersports equipment (paddleboards, kayaks, hobiecats, snorkelling equipment) for a week for an extremely reasonable rate.

If you want to travel with friends or family then check out the Hummingbird Hangout (sleeps 2) and the Treehouse Treetops Apartment (sleeps 2).

Pablo and I are passionate about the environment and when we decided to settle in Saint Lucia we made sure that we were in the most beautiful spot possible! We have worked all our lives in renewable energies and environmental conservation and this commitment runs through everything we do here. We have built the houses looking directly at the sunset and moonset in a place where they cannot be spoilt by new developments. We have protected the wildlife on the cliff below the houses so that we have an abundance of birds and other creatures. We are off-grid for energy (solar) and water so not affected by any local shortages or cuts. Each apartment is designed for maximum enjoyment of the outdoors and stunning views. Our love for animals means that we have surrounded ourselves with goats, dogs and a rescued horse. We live in wonderful harmony with frogs, lizards, birds, hermit crabs, mongooses, possums and many more. Unlike other local rentals, we use local wood as well as upcycled materials (pallet wood, driftwood, etc) to furnish and fit out our apartments. We never use pesticides or insecticides but use natural methods to reduce pests (for example we use fish ponds to reduce mosquitoes which have been very successful). We also work directly in partnership with local people who want to help our guests discover their beautiful island. We do not do it ourselves as we would not be able to offer you the same insights and we do not go through tour agencies. These are local people we have met while living on the island.
