L-ispazju
The Barley Mow Bed and Breakfast is attached to the Barley Mow Inn, which has been offering a warm welcome and hospitality to discerning travellers for centuries. The inn is an impressive 15th - 17th century, Grade II listed stone property, located at the top of the village looking out onto the main street. The Barley Mow is a destination pub providing an unspoilt, authentic immersive experience, often described as ‘stepping back in time’. The inn is a free house offering a range of real ales straight from the cask, local ciders and perries, and its own Barley Mow Brewery ales all accompanied by delicious home-made food at weekends. The bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities, are a short walk across the yard from the pub up some stone steps on the first floor over what was the stables and is now the barrel and bottle sheds and community village shop.

Tea, coffee and hot chocolate along with biscuits or cakes are available for guests to help themselves to in their rooms. The community shop below opens early for papers, toiletries and everyday provisions, including snacks and drinks for picnics. Traditional English breakfasts are served in the medieval pub kitchen, cooked to order on the Aga from locally sourced fresh produce.

The landlady for over 40 years, Mary Short, is in her 80s. These days she is often a little confused, but still lights the fire in the pub each day and is always pleased to chat to visitors. Her family and team of colleagues maintain this unique and timeless place and there is always someone on hand to help guests with any queries.

Aċċess għall-klijenti
Guests can park in the gated yard but are asked to take care not to let the pub’s two dogs out when opening the gate. The dogs are both expert escape artists! There are outdoor seats in the yard and in the pub’s garden to soak up the historic atmosphere and catch some rays with a pint or cuppa. There is an enclosed orchard for guests’ dogs to relieve themselves first thing in the morning or last thing at night (please bag and bin any poop)

Kirk Ireton, England, ir-Renju Unit

The Barley Mow Inn is located on the Main Street in Kirk Ireton, England, United Kingdom.

Kirk Ireton is a charming limestone village nestling in the hills above Wirksworth. The name derives from the Anglo-Saxon for ‘high town’ and the village is about 700 feet above sea level with great vistas across the valley from different vantage points. There are a plethora of footpaths and Carsington Water is a scenic 60 minute circular walk from the pub. If you like the outdoors - for walking, running, cycling, sailing, rock climbing, bird watching or simply sight-seeing – Kirk Ireton is a great base for a rural holiday on the edge of the Peak District.

Wirksworth, the nearest town, has a traditional market, a heritage centre, a good selection of restaurants and an independent cinema. Carsington Water offers bike hire, kayaking, sailing, nature reserves and a visitors’ centre. The area is steeped in industrial heritage, with Arkwright’s Mills at Cromford, Strutt’s mill at Belper and a Tram Museum at Crich. If you prefer history on a grander domestic scale, there is the Chatsworth Estate, Haddon Hall, Kedleston Hall and Hardwick Hall all a short drive from the village. For a picturesque car trip, head to Tissington village via Bradbourne ford and then onto Dovedale or take the Via Gellia towards Bakewell and carry on across the Peaks to Buxton. Matlock Bath offers a Victorian spa experience, now updated to include illuminations, fish and chips galore, ice cream and sweet emporia and a cable car.
