This is the 2nd safest way to visit Madison during COVID: a master bedroom and bath all to yourselves. (The 1st is explained below.) Enjoy a drink while looking out over Monona Bay and the Capital. What is better?--the view, or your proximity to downtown, UW campus, and the Alliant Center? Most mention the view. Simply cross the street, and you're at the edge of Monona Bay. Parking is easy. Note: click “Show more” for things you might NOT like about the house.

You'll be staying in the Master bedroom with a view of the lake and a private bathroom with shower. The capacity is two adults and one child. (Just register as two guests and mention it to me if you have a child.) I will be in the house as well. Since you're self-contained, a master with bath is the best option for COVID concerns--besides having the entire 1st and 2nd floors of the house exclusively to yourselves, which you can do by looking for the companion listing titled "House on water, near UW, Alliant Center." (If you have trouble finding it, got it is airbnb listing #41770940.)

If there is a third adult, or more, that would necessitate a separate bedroom. I may need an hour to two to accommodate that, so please contact me to discuss before you reserve it instantly. Once you explain your situation I'll try to accommodate you.

Things you may NOT like:
1) Some people have come to expect that airbnb spaces are all to themselves. This listing is of the original airbnb model: I'm living in the house too, you have your own room with exclusive bath; access to the rest of the house is with me.
2) The house was built in 1942, so it has an old, homey feel. This is my home which I love, not a sterile condo that’s solely a rental.
3) An old house always has a list of projects to do, mine are upgrading the kitchen cabinets, and replacing a cracked window.

Airbnb doesn't yet accommodate sharing videos of houses, but if you want to view mine, let's see if this works: my electronic male consists of my first name and then the two-letter identifier of my state, followed by nineteen and then a five and then the integer two more than that. All of that is at gee male. If you so desire, interact with me there; I'll share the video.

(If that's too much work for you, let me just say there are three large windows in the great room that provide a panoramic view of Monona Bay and the Capital. It's pretty dramatic; the view never gets old day or night. In the summer you may watch water skiers zoom by as you look out your bedroom window; in the winter you may view the well-lit Capitol as you enjoy a drink in the living room.)

Quiet neighborhood, but people jogging, roller-blading, paddleboarding, skiing, or cross-country skiing past our front window make it fun. Within three blocks are two coffee shops, two bus stops, the Asian Sweet Bakery. Plenty of parking on either street of our corner lot. Within 1/2-3/4 mile are a grocery store, hardware store, El Rancho Mexican Grill, La Hacienda, Subway, Dunkin' Doughnuts, Rockhound brewery, Edo Asian Cusine, Ichiban Sichuan, Orient House Chinese, a local bar, a barbershop, a greasy spoon breakfast place called "The Curve," Famous Dave's BBQ, and a take-out Pizza Hut.

You may borrow 3-4 bikes, which make the downtown and university nicely available!

I enjoy talking about travelling and hearing other's stories. I grew up in Madison, then lived in Stony Brook, Long Island, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Jacksonville, FL, and Raleigh, NC before deciding to start over in my home town. 'Twas a great decision: I love being back in the Midwest, and in Madison in particular. I enjoy reading, classical music, college sports, Downton Abby, a good bottle of wine, and being active in my nearby church. As an Airbnb host I respect that my guests typically have places to go and people to see. Yet, I'm glad to chat, or point them to a good spot in town.

Re. COVID-19, I'll be as strict or as relaxed as you wish. I'll wear a mask to greet you, and when we interact. My daughters and I have tested negative twice, although the most recent was back September. We sanitize all door handles, etc. before each guest arrives.

That said, I enjoy sitting down with a drink and getting to know new people. However I have plenty to keep me busy, so if you want to keep to yourself, that is fine with me.
