The space
Hi, we are Alan and Amanda. We are here to make sure you have the best stay in Cape May possible. Looking to make this trip special? Let me know and we can help you get the most out of the hidden Cape May that most tourists don't see.

Our Farmhouse is situated in Cape May in an ideal location that is close enough to bicycle to any attraction, but far enough away from the frenzy of downtown. After all, you are visiting Cape May for relaxation, right? The farmhouse was built in the 1700s and is one of Cape May’s oldest structures. It was recently gutted and remodeled from top to bottom. All modern amenities like a gourmet kitchen, central A/C and luxurious bathrooms were added. You will not find a more luxurious and sophisticated home on the island. We love hosting families, especially those with young children, and the house is designed to cater to that.

The farmhouse includes:
-Three bedrooms, all of which are on the second floor. The master bedroom is separated from the other two bedrooms by a small hallway which provides parents great privacy after a long day at the beach.

-A gourmet kitchen with soapstone countertops, custom cabinetry that was built on-site, a walk-in pantry to store all of your local foods for the week and brand new appliances.

-Separate living and family room spaces. Let the kids watch a movie in family room while you hunker down with a good book and a glass of wine in the adjacent living room.

-An upstairs laundry area with washer and dryer

-A large dining room to host family dinner

-A custom made breakfast bar that is part of the extended kitchen. Open the awning window at the bar and enjoy the ocean breeze while you take in your morning coffee.

OTHER FUN AMENITIES!
-A private outdoor area that includes a custom built bocce court, cornhole boards and play area, and a wonderful patio with a grill.

-Use of four bicycles

-FREE use of a beach box at a prime location on Cape May’s world class beaches. The beach box is loaded with beach chairs, an umbrella and beach toys for the kids

-Farmhouse is furnished throughout with designer and custom-made furniture.

-Lots of original and historic art throughout, most of which comes from Bucks County PA and local artist friends.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PLACE:

Q: Is the Farmhouse near the beach?
A: The Black Whale is 1.4 miles to the beach. We recommend bicycling to the beach (using bicycles provided) or driving to the beach and using the beach box (also included). The house is 2 miles to the local’s favorite, Higbee Beach and 3 miles to Sunset Beach. In other words, the farmhouse is smack in the middle of several beaches.

Q: Do you offer beach tags?
A: No. The City of Cape May prohibits us from sharing tags. That said, tags are very affordable and we provide everything else you need to have an awesome beach day!

Q: Is the farmhouse close to the various wineries and breweries?
A: Very much so. The world class Cape May Brewery, Cape May Winery and Nauti Spirits are all within a couple of miles. Again, we think you will find that the Black Whale is ideally located.

Q: When can I check in or check out?
A: We will try to accommodate your desired check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. Note that early check ins are not always possible if we have a guest leaving that morning, as we need time to have the room professionally cleaned for you. However, I can usually allow you to drop off luggage, and the farmhouse will usually be ready by 4pm at the very latest. Late check-ins, even ones at 2am, are no problem at all.

Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests?
A: Yes, and we take pride in providing a clean home for guests.

Q: The pictures look pretty cool. Is that how the place really looks?
A: Yes. In fact, the Black Whale is more stunning in person.
