Ipswich, Massachusetts, l-Istati Uniti

Ipswich is home to the largest collection of first period (1625-1725) homes in the United States. In fact, a house very much like this on was transported from Ipswich to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC-- a nod to these unique preserved homes and the nearly four centuries of history that have taken place within them. Walk down High Street and read the plaques on the homes and the historical markers along the way. Visit the museums and galleries, and don't miss a stroll along the Riverwalk, with an amazing mural by artist Alan Pearsall, that chronicles in pictures the history of Ipswich, one of America's oldest towns. The Old North Burying Ground (1634) is a few doors down, just beyond the homesite of Anne Bradstreet, America's first female poet. New Englanders know that a Dunkin' Donuts is never far away--we have one right next door! If you're looking for a more historic drink, stop by the 1634 Meadery across the street for a tasting! Walk to the many fine downtown restaurants and shops. We're just 10 minutes away from beautiful Crane's Beach. So much to love!

I'm Kathy, a retired school teacher. My husband Bob (a firefighter) and I love to travel, and have stayed in many types of lodging, from medieval European castles, modern city center apartments, thatched cottages and tons of B&Bs. We live in a 340 year old first period Colonial home in one of America's most historic towns.
