Revel in a break at Ardilaun in one of our expansive family rooms.
Enjoy a warm drink in your room, relax in the communal lounge, take a stroll round the large, riverside garden or light the barbecue ... and savour Ennis and the Clare countryside.

A short distance from Shannon Airport, Ennis is the ideal place from which to explore Ireland’s mid-west— the Wild Atlantic Way, the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, the Burren, Bunratty Castle, Aillwee Cave, Lahinch, Lisdoonvarna and much, much more.

L-ispazju
This large family room, at entrance-floor level, has two double beds with views across the garden to the river Fergus and the Irish countryside beyond ... a peaceful resting-place for weary travellers.

As well as a casual table and seating, a dressing table and a wardrobe, the room has a television, wifi and facilities for making a hot drink ... and of course includes an en suite bathroom. The breakfast room is just a few metres away.

Ardilaun’s large back garden, which includes a number of unusual artworks, slopes gently down to the river Fergus and a decked area with seating, tables and a barbecue where, you try your luck at catching dinner straight out of the river.

There is plenty of free parking but you won’t need your car for the 600m walk to Ballyallia Lake, an important ecological site where waterbirds abound that has been recognised as a wetland of international importance. Here there is easy access to lakeside walks and, in July and August, kayaks and stand-up boards are available for hire. (For more details of other attractions, amenities and services in and around Ennis, see ‘Other things to note’ below.)

Ardilaun has invested in an ozone generator to facilitate the daily sterilisation of all rooms; in addition we are committed to following all current safety procedures .

Aċċess għall-klijenti
With Shannon Airport only a stone’s throw away—just 22 minutes by car—access to Ennis and Ardilaun couldn’t be easier which makes Ardilaun an ideal overnight stop before travelling home.

From Shannon Airport in the south or Galway and beyond in the north, Ardilaun is just over 3km (2 miles) south of junction 14 of the motorway (the M18) on the R458, the main road towards Ennis. If you’re already driving in Clare, Ardilaun is midway between Ennis and Barefield on the R458, the main road north/south through Ennis.

Two hourly Bus Eireann services (numbers 51 and 343) run between Shannon Airport and Ennis Bus & Railway Station; the 51 takes 30 minutes and the 343 a quarter of an hour longer. Regular rail services between Galway and Limerick also stop at Ennis.

As Ardilaun is a 45-minute walk from Ennis Bus & Railway Station, and no public transport runs on the R458, guests can arrange to be picked up at the station by arrangement.
Guests can also arrange to be collected at Shannon Airport by a local and reliable taxi service (number available on request). If guests pass their flight details to the driver, he will monitor its progress and be there on schedule.

Affarijiet oħra li għandek tagħti kas
Ennis, an historical market town and the county town of Clare, has both the feel of a time past but yet embraces all the amenities and services of the modern world. Superb restaurants, offering everything from a ‘bring-your own-bottle’ Italian to an ‘eat-as-much-as-you-can’ Chinese, while its traditional bars, many of which offer live music all the year round, cater for all tastes.

The town’s bars and pubs are buzzing in May and November particularly when Ennis hosts traditional Irish music festivals. Every March there is the long-established Ennis Book Club Festival which attracts not only home-grown authors and poets but also those with an international reputations. Many Ennis venues host these literary and musical events but the most prestigious are showcased in the town’s thriving arts centre and theatre, the Glór.

A short walk from Ardilaun, you’ll find Auburn Lodge which has both a restaurant and a bar while, if you fancy a night out in the town, there is plenty of parking and easy access to the town’s restaurants and bars. If you prefer an evening in —and haven’t caught dinner in the Fergus—the many restaurants offering a delivery service and the numerous Takeaways are all just a phone-call away. Snacks and beverages can of course be bought at the nearby Lidl.

As well as regular ‘limited-stop’ services to and from Shannon Airport, Galway, Limerick and Cork, local bus routes connect Ennis to the Wild Atlantic Way at Kilrush, Kilkee, Lahinch and the Cliffs of Moher and Bunratty Castle to the south-east of the town. Timetables are available online at Buseireann and Dublincoach. websites (Bunratty / Limerick / Dublin).

More detailed information on all the well-known places to go in County Clare (and also those less in the public eye), including a mass of maps of the area, is available at the town’s excellent Museum and Tourist Information Centre. Here you can book a day-trip to Cliffs of Moher, Doolin and Inisheer, the nearest of the Aran Islands, or if spotting a bottlenose dolphin is more your thing, then a boat-trip into the mouth of the Shannon from Carrigaholt can be arranged.

As well as sightseeing opportunities, Clare has much to offer both the energetic and leisurely the traveller who wants to participate as well as watch ... the Ennis area in particular offers every activity from golf to fishing and horse-riding to surfing and there are countless opportunities walk by the sea or on a lakeside path or simple take to the hills.

Ennis itself has various ‘mapped’ walking trails and is festooned with interpretation boards; there are also daily walking tours (limited group and private tours can also be arranged) when, as well as finding out how Éamon de Valera and Muhammed Ali are connected to the town, you’ll hear tales of famine and poverty, murders and hangings, rebellions and riots ...
