A part of Toronto Corktown’s row-house heritage, our home is a modern take on its English predecessor first seen in the late 19 century, where the half above-ground first-level of the building is an independent apartment with its own separate entrance. We spent 7 months during the lockdown to reimagine and construct the entire floor into a b&b, which included the design and making of the majority of the furnitures and the custom-making of all light fixtures by modifying vintage finds. The goal we had in mind was to create a space that boasts the ability to relax while preserving the power needed to invigorate those who can use a cheer. The search for a solution that can make it both stimulate and calm the mind led to primitive and primary components such as simple shapes, elements in nature such as the sun, starry skies, and wild flowers, each of which independently dominates the feel of one room while stayed connected throughout by the comprehensive use of popular interior colour schemes that most of us were exposed to as children and thus nostalgically familiar with that comes from the time of mid-century modern.

It is also where the two major highways, QEW the Niagara/Buffalo corridor, and DVP the north-south corridor intersect. The locality and accessibility contribute to Corktown’s 10-year boom from a quiet residential neighbour of the !vibrant Distillery District into an energetic, unique community with a new 18 acre modern city park, new hiking/biking trails, exciting architectures, public art district, venues for performing arts, contemporary art galleries, bars, best in town bakeries, independent restaurants, a world class coffee shop, bike shops, personal trainer studios, fine furniture stores and vintage furniture/clothing stores while preserving Old Toronto's heritages seen in several heritage sites near our home, continuous streetscape planning and public transit integrations.

Hey there! We are Pohan and Max. We live in Toronto where Max works as a health care practitioner. Pohan is a Toronto based visual artist whose work regularly comes with travel opportunities. We often take advantage of those mostly backpacking trips and road trips at times to explore and learn about the people and the lands we find ourselves in. Outside of work, we are enthusiastic tennis players, home chefs and avid readers. Pohan is a dedicated weekend home renovator, and in Max's spare time, he enjoys motorcycling and exploring new recipes. We are travelers that need no destinations, and believe that while we are only young once, we can be immature forever. Our home is a stone throw away from the Distillery District at Toronto's downtown east where we live with our two amazing cats, Bell and Jonas.
