From the kitchen, you’ll have plenty of space in the open plan lounge to relax in comfort, watch your favourite TV programme, binge on a boxset via the Smart TV or just chill with a good book or listening to some music.
Fancy just taking in the scenery? Head over to the other side of the house to the Snug. Our mainly glass conservatory boasts unrivalled views across the valley and countryside so you can watch red kites, foxes or other wildlife and if the weather is good, experience some of the most amazing sunsets you’ll ever see.
Upstairs, there is a double and twin bedroom, both with exposed beams. Beautifully decorated in muted, relaxing tones they have high ceilings, giving you lots of space and light, with blackout blinds that make sure you’ll stay in the land of nod until you’re ready to take on the day.
Outside, relax in the hot tub located in a secluded spot on the terraced patio or make the most of the weather by dining al-fresco.

Out and About
Where do we start! There are loads of things to do within easy reach, from visiting the market towns of Lampeter, Llandeilo, Aberaeron, Cardigan, Carmarthen or Aberystwyth. Each boasting their unique style and all have lovely independent shops and amazing café, bars and restaurants, making it a challenge to choose between shopping and stopping for coffee and cake!
Cardigan Bay is famous for its sea life and visitors flock to see dolphins, seals and porpoise. There are several ways that you can experience our marine residents with boat trips aplenty or if you worry that you don’t have sea legs, then the harbour wall at New Quay can be a great place to see dolphins without leaving dry land.
If history is more your thing, then there is a wealth at your feet. With several National Trust properties in the area, learn about the lords and ladies of the mansions or even pan for Welsh gold at the Dolaucothi Gold Mines. If you want to travel further back in time, then visit one of the many castles, especially Carreg Cennin Castle - the steep walk is certainly worth the view from the battlements!
For those looking for a more active time during their stay, we are 10 miles away from the famous Brechfa Forest mountain bike trails. Brechfa is a perfect destination for both pootlers or those who like to high adrenalin ride! All trails show off Brechfa Forest at its best. Don’t forget that we can store your bikes in our lockable workshop.

If you’d rather stick to two feet rather than two wheels, there are endless amounts of trails and paths that you can follow. We’re a maximum of 25 minutes drive away from the Welsh Coastal Path, guaranteed to give you spectacular views of the coastline and the wildlife. Take Aberaeron with its pretty painted Georgian houses, New Quay where you can sit with your fish & chips whilst dolphin spot from the harbour wall, Cwmtudy and Llangrannog with its infamous coves and smuggler tales or further south towards Mwnt, Poppit Sands and Cardigan. If you fancy a bigger challenge, take on Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak in the south and situated in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park.
For nature lovers, apart from the sea life, visit the Red Kite feeding station at Bwlch Nant yr Arian, Aberglasney Gardens or the National Botanical Garden of Wales or even feed the giraffes at Folly Farm.
As you can see, whether you want to just stay at home and chill or fill your days with action packed day-trips, Swallows Rest is the perfect retreat and we very much look forward to welcoming you and offering a big Welsh croeso (welcome).
