The pandemic’s anniversary has many of us realizing just how long we have gone without seeing family members...going to the theatre...hugging friends...traveling.

Fortunately, this milestone comes as the vaccine roll out accelerates across the country. The positive trend in vaccinations has many travelers rushing to plan bucket list travel while others cautiously inch towards vacation territory once more.

No matter which side you are on, we are here to help you plan the post-pandemic vacation stay for a fraction of the cost.

BIG $$$ SAVINGS for EXTENDED STAY (90 DAYS) - OCCUPANCY TAX NORTH CAROLINA

The tax DOES NOT apply to accommodations furnished to the same person for at least ninety (90) consecutive days. For those who stay LESS THAN ninety (90) consecutive days pay the Occupancy Tax of North Carolina. This will be a savings of hundreds of dollars.

Work from Asheville- professionals who are working remotely to work from here instead.

CHANGE YOUR VIEW FOR WORK, SCHOOL or RETIREMENT

Spring is a wonderful time in western North Carolina, with trees and flowers in bloom, the Blue Ridge Parkway a bit less crowded, and the waterfalls flowing. The weather is ideal for a hike along one of many trails near Asheville.

The spectacular scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is enough to attract many retirees to Asheville, but it also has a lively cultural and creative scene, with art galleries, museums, studios, and the River Arts District. Outdoorsy types will find many opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, and simply enjoying the clean mountain air. Craft breweries, restaurants, and a range of places to live are draws, and North Carolina does not tax social security income.

Great news – we've extended an exclusive offer that you can take advantage of! Give work, school or retirement a change of scenery .

Most of the easier trails are clustered around Lake Powhatan, where several loop trails - Deerfield Loop, Pine Tree Loop, and Explorer Loop (in order of increasing difficulty) make nice, short family hikes.

LONGER & MORE DIFFICULT:

More difficult trails on the north side of BENT CREEK GAP Road include Sidehill, Lower Sidehill, and Little Hickory Top. Connecting trails make loops of various difficulty possible on this side of the road. EXPERIENCE FALL IN ASHEVILLE

In early fall head to higher elevations above 5,000 feet. In mid-fall peak color lights up spots in the 3,000 to 4,000-foot range. In late fall, lower elevation spots at less than 2,000 feet are your best bet.

Milepost 316.3 - Linville Falls: See one of the most photographed waterfalls in the eastern USA from five viewpoints along wooded hikes in Pisgah National Forest.

Milepost 355.4 - Mt Mitchell: Drive to the top of the highest peak in the eastern USA and see the 360-degree views from the top. While color up top peaks early October, the views into the valley will be colorful through mid October.

Milepost 364.4 - Craggy Gardens: See views from the Visitor Center, have a mile-high picnic and hike trails to the balds with spectacular views. Craggy Pinnacle has one of our favorite views along the Parkway.

Milepost 382 - Folk Art Center: Stop here to see creations from hundreds of the best artists in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Watch artists at work, see several exhibitions and do some early Christmas shopping in their fabulous store.

Milepost 407.6 - Mt Pisgah & Pisgah Inn: Expect big crowds here during October, with everyone vying for a window table at 5,000 feet elevation. Shop in their gallery, camp, picnic and hike to the top of Mt. Pisgah. Tip: Wait times for the restaurant often run an hour or more on busy days. Grab your pager first and then browse the gift shop or enjoy the views from their outdoor deck.

Milepost 417 - Looking Glass Rock Overlook: See the iconic stone face, along with many mountain ridges. From the overlook, hike just a half mile to Skinny Dip Falls' idyllic setting with multiple cascades.

Milepost 418.8 - Graveyard Fields: This super popular hiking spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway usually has the most brilliant and earliest fall colors (first week in October). Take short hike to gorgeous Lower Falls or hike through the mile-high meadow.

Milepost 420.2, Black Balsam Knob Hike: This local's favorite trail across multiple balds is one of most spectacular hikes in the North Carolina mountains. Expect many people here, so arrive early or visit midweek for smaller crowds. It's an epic picnic and camping spot.
