MINCA: small village nestled in the northern Colombian hills, it is an excellent option for anyone looking to escape the gritty city of Santa Marta for those a little bit bored of the beaches and popularity of Tayrona and Taganga. 45 minutes away from the much more popular coastal town of Santa Marta is a few degrees cooler than elsewhere in this part of the country, but still perfect for sitting outside to enjoy your morning coffee and breathe in the unparalleled views. Your days here will be spent walking from farm to waterfall through the jungle, uncovering the secrets of cacao and coffee, chasing elusive birds, and indulging in hidden moments of serene relaxation amongst tranquil, unspoiled nature. Pozo Azul is a collection of three swimming areas on the river that runs by Minca. It’s a great swimming hole with a big waterfall and a perfect spot for cliff jumping!

The nearly 30 mile trek takes visitors through farmland and jungle on an unforgettable six-day journey. Part of the adventure includes trekking over mountains filled with exotic plants and animals, climbing stone paths through dense jungle, bathing in waterfalls and sleeping in indigenous villages.

PARQUE DE LOS NOVIOS: The Parque de los Novios is located a few blocks inland from the beach in the center of Santa Marta. It is close to the Historic Center of the city. The plaza is a hub of activity and entertainment. Let the kids play in the fountains around the statue. Prepare yourself for a random burst of salsa dancing or a fire performance by a street performer.
