Glen View is a mid terraced Victorian house in a rural Welsh village surrounded by ancient woodland and streams and less than half an hour away from unspoilt beautiful beaches.

We are a vegan homestead; growing as much food as we can in our small permaculture garden (and separate land projects) as well as foraging and getting creative in the kitchen!

The room is on the ground floor, is quiet and has a ground floor toilet and shower room that isn't shared by any other letting rooms.

L-ispazju
Ground floor bedroom in an old house that we have been lovingly restoring since the start of lockdown, so there are some parts of the house still a bit scruffy, but that's reflected in the price. This room is decorated and finished and lovely! (There is another double available which is en-suite, please see other listings)

Whilst the house is wonderful and most people love the space, the very affordable price reflects the following:
- Parking is tricky and we ask visitors not to park outside neighbours' houses as this is a working Welsh village not a tourist attraction! We ask guests to drop bags off and park up the hill if we are busy with bookings. Being mindful to our neighbours is important to us!
- We are still refurbishing what is an old Victorian house. The bedrooms are all freshly decorated and lovely but there is an ongoing refurbishment in other parts.
- In order to be mindful to the environment and our anti-consumerist position, everything is upcycled, vintage or secondhand. Boutique styling without the cost to planet.
- We are an intentional community house and a private home not just to the owners but to gentle souled people who are part of the Eden Movement, which is an ethical philosophy to practice kindness in all decision making.
- We are only offering B&B this summer to raise funds for our community growing projects to tackle food poverty and getting people growing their own veg, so please feel free to pay more if you can afford to!

Guest access
Parking is tricky when we have more than one guest so we ask visitors not to park outside neighbours' houses as this is a working Welsh village not a tourist attraction! We ask guests to drop bags off and park up the hill if we are busy with bookings. Being mindful to our neighbours is important to us!

Other things to note
We are a vegan intentional community house and this is a private home not just to the owners but to gentle souled people who are part of the Eden Movement (which is an ethical philosophy to practice kindness in all decision making).

We are only offering B&B this summer to raise funds for our community growing projects to tackle food poverty and getting people growing their own veg, so please feel free to pay more if you can afford to and remember to be mindful that we are not a hotel!

Felindre, Wales, ir-Renju Unit

Drefach Felindre is an old wool industry village and is home to the National Woolen Museum. It has two pubs, a health food shop, a Premier, a chippy and a village hall. It's a Welsh speaking part of Wales and this village is not a tourist hotspot, but that said, it is surrounded by ancient woodlands and streams and public footpaths everywhere. It's ten minutes from Newcastle Emlyn, half an hour from Cardigan, Carmarthen and a lot of very pretty beaches. There's a local potter who does classes and a fabulous yoga teacher who does several local classes each week (lockdown permitting of course!).

It's also ten minutes and half an hour away from both our land projects, so if you fancy a bit of chilling out in an off grid 31 acre valley nature reserve or helping in a polytunnel ten minutes up the road, let us know±

Hi My name is Shelley and I live in Drefach Felindre, Wales with my husband Paul. We are busy setting up land conservation and permaculture projects, so chances are another member of our intentional community will be your host on site while we are off grid somewhere. All proceeds from room rentals will be funding our exciting eco-projects so why not help support it by taking a slightly longer holiday with us! We love our home, and we have spent a lot of time, our hard earned cash and love making it as beautiful as possible, and it's almost finished now although with old houses, there is always some ongoing work so we have priced the rooms based on it being basic accommodation even though it feels like a boutique hotel! We are gentle, spiritual people and practice living conscientiously - that means we are vegan and do not believe in unnecessary waste or overt consumerism. Most of our home has been put together with recycled, upcycled and vintage bargains. We love cooking, and would love to prepare our home cooked vegan meals for you so that if you are not already vegan, we might be able to convince you meals do not need meat to be delicious and nutritious! Please ask about what we can offer you, as we are all keen vegan foodies and love to cook too! We also love to travel, and have been regular guests at Airbnbs around Europe. We know that sometimes it's nice to chat with your hosts, and other times to be left alone, so let us know how private you want your stay to be! Breakfast will be vegan continental, but if you want a full cooked vegan breakfast for a small extra charge, let us know! We also love music; Paul is a keen guitarist and I love to sing. but despite this please note our place is perfect for more mature, peace loving people who value quiet over partying. We will be imposing a curfew and, please note that we do not have televisions in the rooms! There is internet, but we would encourage reading books, painting, walking, playing board games and ditching your phone for your stay! We were AirBnB superhosts in Exeter where we lived before lockdown, so inviting people into our new home here in rural Wales will be a different experience, even though I brought all the rugs and pictures and it looks the same in some parts! We did lots of city bookings, and discovered it's a bit like having children (ours have all left home now) except so far, the guests have all been polite and lovely, left their rooms tidy, said thank you and been an absolute pleasure. We like it when our guests feel like family, and now we live here in beautiful unspoilt rural Wales, we would love the chance to show our guests why we love it so much here :-) Check out the experiences we will be offering during your stay; they will range from foraging walks to writing retreats... as soon as we have decided on our calendars we will post the available experiences! Some of them will be free!

Matul iż-żjara tiegħek

We are fairly introverted people and if you're booking a stay for this summer, we are most likely to be on one of our land projects, but Colette and Scott will look after you. If you want nothing more than a base and to be left alone, your wish is our command, but we are all total foodies and would be delighted to share our wholefood vegan meals (and a few plant-based junk food meals from time to time) an in fact, will be running vegan cookery and nutrition courses in the future!

If you let us know in advance whether you might want meals with us, or any other requirements, we can do our best to accommodate your needs.

If you like the idea of saving the planet and saving costs, we encourage people to bring their own bedding for a discount (£10 per booking or per week discount) and we are also happy to offer a discount of £5 per person off the daily rate if you don't want our continental breakfast. And if you want to take it a step further and get an even cheaper holiday or even grab a free stay, why not ask about our workaway opportunities! Please message us before booking if you want a variation on the standard deal!
