A masterly designed 100% off grid space with modern comforts that enjoy breathtaking views of the forest and a deep valley that connects to the great southern ocean. Birds, wildlife, giant trees, and sleepy ferns will greet you through the infinity window that looks beyond the comfort of your own luxurious queen bed, thoughtfully designed kitchen, and ample bathroom.

Big Bear's Tiny House, a retreat from the outside world. Come and rest, unplug and recharge amongst the forest. Our stunning property sits at the very end of a 1.5km long gravel road, with breathtaking ocean views at the end of our quiet street. We are a gorgeous 10 minutes drive to Skenes Creek Beach, 15 minutes drive to Apollo Bay township & beaches, 60 minutes from Lorne and 25 minutes from the super cute inland town of Forrest.

This completely off-grid tiny house is spectacularly appointed, with all the things you will need to be as close to nature as you will get, outside of pitching a tent. The tiny house is 100% off grid luxury, it catches it's own Otway forest rain water and has solar power with battery storage.

Come and enjoy the fully decked out kitchen, an amazingly roomy (and not tiny!) bathroom and a super-efficient and toasty wood fire complete with comfy couch.
Relax by the fire, put your feet up, gaze into the drama and stillness of the lush green forest, and just BE.

The infinity window at the bed end of the tiny house gives you forever views down a vast and dramatic rainforest gorge, right through the ancient canopy to the panorama of the deep blue ocean beyond. You will be literally surrounded by soaring majestic eucalypts, calm and serene Blackwood trees, and the ancient wisdom and soothing presence of mature tree ferns.

A myriad of birdlife will welcome you daily, and in the evening the owls take over when the sounds of the Australian bush come to the fore with all its nocturnal wonders. After a day of exploring the region come home to a hot shower and awesome bbq for dinner under the stars, or soak up the fireplace inside. We hope this place will act as a place of rest for the weariest of travellers and explorers. We have put our attention into making this simple space just what you need to feel one with nature, and do so with ease.

The brand new comfy queen bed won't disappoint either, and with the help of the power and presence of the dynamic Otway forest, we hope you will leave feeling rested, recharged, and inspired.
The guest space truly is a magical addition to our beautiful property, and we can't wait to share it with you.

Tiny house by name, but we do have a full size bathroom with a real flushing toilet. No compostable, drop dunny or outdoor toilet trips here. We've got you covered.

We experience limited mobile phone reception depending on the carrier. Telstra is the most reliable network here in the forest. If you are with another phone carrier, your mobile phone/data reception may not be reliable during your stay.

We are nestled amongst the Otway forest and the gems of the region are at your fingertips. You do need a car to visit us and you will also need to drive along a gravel road and driveway to access the tiny house.

Approx driving time from nearby places:
Forrest: 25 mins
Apollo Bay: 15 minutes
Skenes Creek beach: 10 mins
Lorne: 1 hour
Redwood forest: 45 mins
12 Apostles: 1 hour 45 mins

The above timeframes are minimum driving times without stopping to admire the natural beauty that surrounds us. Please give yourself plenty of time to soak up the magic when exploring.

We are an easy going, relaxed, and happily married couple with 3 dogs, 12 chickens and 1 bee hive on a 170 acre property in the majestic Otway ranges just off the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. Dale is an Osteopath and Jackie is a jeweller. We absolutely love all the things we are surrounded by in our home, especially the old trees, the birds, and the ocean. We love to meet new like-minded people, and especially like to connect with animals, in particular the dog variety as reflected in our beautiful chocolate labradors Freckles, Frankie, and Phoenix. We spend time where possible travelling locally and abroad to explore, experience, and meet new people through random encounters and the airbnb community.
We are an easy going, relaxed, and happily married couple with 3 dogs, 12 chickens and 1 bee hive on a 170 acre property in the majestic Otway ranges just off the Great Ocean Road…
