A comfortable, modern holiday house with mountain views in a quiet cul-de-sac on the peninsula, between South Bay and the town side. It's away from the hustle and bustle of the town side, & yet only a short drive to anywhere in Kaikoura.

We have most conveniences, a great kitchen, comfy beds & furniture, free WIFI, a deck & plenty of off-street parking.

This is a large house, and you will be renting the front half. The units connect via a shared laundry.

*The house is new & we are still applying the finishing touches. Main thing that's incomplete is the landscaping.

We have built a large 6 bedroom house, that is separated into front and rear units. Each has 3 bedrooms.

The two units are separated by a garage, and connected by a shared laundry that runs behind the garage. This listing is for the front unit. If you have a large group, you may be able to rent the rear unit as well. We also own another house at No 6 that we similarly rent out.

The entrance to the unit is via your own private front deck with wide eaves providing shelter.

The master bedroom has an ensuite, a super-king bed and features a sliding door onto the deck.

The second bedroom has a split super-king bed. It can be made up as a super-king, or 2 single beds. If you have a preference for this, be sure to tell us.

The third bedroom has a king sized bed.

There are 2 bathrooms - the main one, and a private ensuite attached to the master bedroom.

The living space, kitchen & dining is all the one room. The kitchen features an oven, electric hob, extraction fan, dishwasher, fridge/freezer & microwave. It has an island with granite top that's the ideal social center while preparing food.

The living space has a leather couch (3+2) and a 65" TV. And a dining table that seats 6.

In the shared laundry we have 2 washing machines and a clothes dryer.

You won't normally have access to the garage, but if you are planning to go fishing, do let me know. I can give you the access code so you can use the fridge & freezer in the garage.

**Important Note**
We have only just finished building the house. When we say it's brand new, we mean it!

Here's a list of possible shortcomings - some of them might be sorted by the time you stay, but I want to be as open as possible. I'll remove the items as I get them done:
- landscaping still a work in progress
- rear unit is not yet available (we are still fitting it out)

We are located almost at the end of the peninsula, up top. There's no through traffic, so it's lovely & quiet. That also makes it very safe for children. It's within walking distance to the beach, the peninsula walkways, the seal colony & 5 minutes drive from the town centre.

I work as a software developer/DBA for a living. I used to be an officer in the Naval Reserves (here in New Zealand that means part-time Navy), and when I retired from the Navy after some 30 years my wonderful wife Tong suggested we build a holiday home in Kaikoura to "fill the hole". It's been an absolute brilliant idea, and has certainly kept me busy!

I love fishing, boating, and probably no surprise, anything to do with the sea. Which has made Kaikoura an excellent choice. My other significant hobby is classic motorbikes.

Note - I've indicated that I speak Mandarin - I don't, but my wife Tong does. I thought I should mention it in case you ring or send a message in Mandarin - I'll be relying on Tong to handle it.
