Away from it all, our casa in Yelapa, a coastal fishing village with no maintained vehicular access, 40 minutes water taxi ride south of Puerto Vallarta, Casa Cuentos is just five minutes from the beach. Gentle surf, no high rise developments, rustic privacy, Yelapa is a great place for birders, there are some pleasant walks. Local operators can take you by boat for fishing trips or a visit a to nearby out of the way beach village. During most of the year there is frequent musical entertainment.

L-ispazju
We call our house Casa Cuentos (House of Stories) we all take our story with us where ever we go. Here you can celebrate your story and add a page or two.

The approximate (website hidden) Earth location is 20degrees 29' 25.52"N 105degrees 26'26.94"W.
Casa Cuentos, a ruin when we first saw it, is a rustic Casa with a Palapa (woven palm) roof.
Only five minutes away is the beach where sometimes you can watch whales or dolphins. Generally the waters in Yelapa bay are good for swimming.
There are restaurants with great food along the beach, in the Pueblo (village) and up river.

Close to Casa Cuentos is Dago’s store stocked with 20L reverse osmosis and bottled water, cheese, eggs, (sometimes) creamer called half y half, carnation condensed milk, Rice, Soya and Almond milks, fresh vegetables, tinned goods a small selection of wine and spirits and cleaning materials. They also have cigarettes and rolling papers.

There are other stores up river and in the Pueblo. So if you wish you can eat at home.

Simple and compact Casa Cuentos’ kitchen has a two ring electric infrared hob, smoothie maker/blender, a couple of French Press (coffee/tea makers) and herb/coffee grinder. It's best take your favourite coffee, or tea. You'll find more than enough pots, pans cutlery and crockery. There is on demand hot water.

Casa Cuentos has sleeping accommodation for three adults, two upstairs and one on the lower area. We have mosquito nets in place but mosquito’s are not really a problem, there are however flying creatures, insects and dust in the roof that might be a minor disturbance for visitors during sleep and that might arrive during the day, for that reason we place the nets. There is also a sense of traveler romance that sleeping under a net engenders.

Please do not expose the nets to naked flame. Please do not use candles in the casa. Please do not smoke in bed.

If you take a walk through the garden you will find a ruin we call 'The Sanctuary' El Santuario, which in the long term will be independent of Casa Cuentos, offering privacy for reading, yoga or taking the sun without being overlooked. When we stay with our family and friends we place tents there to extend the accommodation.

In Yelapa you can swim, snorkel dive, fish, rent a kayak, paddle board or just do nothing while watching the world go by over a margarita. You can stay close by the casa and relax in gardens where humming birds and butterflies visit the abundance of flowers.

By taking the path that follows the river upstream there are waterfalls and bathing places to enjoy and if you don’t feel like walking you can go on a horse.
There are many paths to follow and hikes through the forest or up adjacent heights and if you are feeling brave you can hike up to Yelapa Tapa and para-glide down to the beach (if you have the skill).
When the wind is right there is the parachute ride straight off the beach towed by a powerboat.

Frequently there is live music at one of the restaurants – look out for flyers on trees and power poles. There is a disco on Saturdays at the Yacht Club and Manguitos (up river past the bridge) also host musical events.

If you yearn for the ocean, you can hire a man with a boat to take you fishing or book a trip to Las Islas Marietas, a day out to small islands in the Sea of Banderas where you can enjoy snorkel diving in the wonderful clear water and a meal of freshly caught fish.

Yelapa, so local folk-lore tells, was one of Bob Dylan's hangouts in the 60's, and it is undeniable that there are some wonderful musicians and artists living in or frequently visiting Yelapa. The village is small and familial.

There is cell service most places in Yelapa and wi-fi in many locations – the nearest wi-fi to Casa Cuentos is at Hotel La Lagunita.

There is a Medical Centre where treatment is available for all at the point of delivery. You can get to the medical center by crossing the beach, ascending the steps to the main path and turning to the left - it's a short way and is on the right. If the river is high and the beach route not possible take the path leading away from the beach where (in daylight) there are various places the locals cross the river or about ten minutes upriver there is a bridge.

When we met La Lomita, where Casa Cuentos and El Santuario stand, it was a ruined and unfriendly landscape - but no longer! With the help of Perlas, Gonzalo and Esperanza, Leo and Suje, Felipe, Kiko, Juan-Carlos, Nudo and many more local people it has come to life again. Thank you all!
The extensive gardens are constantly being cultivated. Many plants have edible fruit or leaves and some have medicinal properties but don't sample anything without knowing it's safe!

It is necessary to cross the river when going to the Pueblo. When the river flow is low it is blocked by the beach so it's sand all the way to the steps up to the main path to the Pueblo. However if the river is flowing stronger the beach is breached, so watch to see where everyone else crosses; my experience is that it's best to wear shorts or roll up your pants. There is a bridge about 10 minutes up river.

While there are no cars in Yelapa and mules have traditionally been used to transport materials and commodities there are quite a lot of quads and motorbikes. Be aware of mule trains and vehicles, stand back out of their way!

Take with you -
-a first aid kit and sunscreen plus your favourite pain killers, hang-over treatment, regular medications and treatments for allergies. Antihistamine tablets are useful if bitten by ants.
-a sewing/repair kit.
-flash-lights and spare batteries/bulbs.
-closed toe shoes for walking in the jungle and at night in case of sharp things, rocks or scorpions (check your shoes before you put them on for creatures who might be sheltering there).
-your own snorkel and mask.
-Your favourite tea or coffee to brew in the casa.

Canoe rental is available at a stand about three quarters the way along the beach towards the Pueblo, Hotel La Lagunita, Garcia rentals and Casa Isabel.

Paddle-board is available at Chicos bar, on the beach.

Prices vary according to the season.
Low season +/- May - October $75CAD /night
High season +/- November - April $90CAD/night
these prices may vary according to changes made by the AirBnb price algorithm.

Fejn se tkun

Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, il-Messiku

I love the grandeur of the huge trees.
I love the birds that frequent the area.
I love the abundance of butterflies.
I love the Lemon Grass and Hibiscus and Bananas and Papayas we have planted.
I love hearing the sound of the ocean when I am in bed.
I love being so close to the beach and the safe swimming - but I always check on the weather/tidal conditions.
I love going to Yelapa because I get at least two boat rides as part of the trip.
I love the Raicilla!!

Mill-2007 konna jżuru Yelapa u fl-2008 ħadet kustodja ta 'xi art, La Lomita, fejn Casa Cuentos tinsab.
Issa qed naħdmu biex aħna u l-komunità tagħna nużawha nixtiequ nilqgħuk, ħbieb ġodda fl-art ta 'Airbnb, biex jingħaqdu magħna fl-apprezzament u s-sbuħija tal-ġungla u s-sbuħija rustika ta' La Lomita u Casa Cuentos, fi żmien ħames minuti mix-xatt.

Jiena mit-Tramuntana ta 'Londra, aktar tard għixt f' Hertfordshire, Welwyn u St. Albans, sakemm ħallejt Guernsey (Gżejjer Channel) fil-bidu tas-snin 20 tiegħi, imbagħad lejn Londra tal-Punent fejn iltqajna ma 'Sheilagh u jien. Hija Skoċċiża li għexet fil-Perù l-biċċa l-kbira tal-ħajja bikrija tagħha.

Għandna żewġ itfal adulti, li għalihom għażilna l-edukazzjoni ta 'Steiner/Waldorf. Kienet il-konnessjoni ta 'Waldorf li ġabitilna lejn Nelson BC fejn issa ngħixu.

Żbajt u ktibt djar f' Londra għal ħafna snin bejn sojourns ma 'Sheilagh sa Ibiza, Tenerife, l-Indja u vjaġġi' l barra minn Londra madwar ir-Renju Unit fejn wettaqna teatru u aktar reċentement puppets ta 'spiss f' avvenimenti ta 'bieb, Stonehenge Free Festival, Glastonbury, Albion Fairs u avvenimenti tal-komunità, ukoll f' diversi skejjel u parties tat-tfal ġewwa u madwar Londra.

Mill-vjaġġ tagħna lejn Nelson, BC, komplejna l-atmosfera artistika filwaqt li Sheilagh kienet għalliema ta 'Waldorf Kindergarten u jiena freelanced bħala pittur li nidħol f' Lazure li verament tagħmel lil qalbi tkanta.
Bħalissa naħdmu flimkien f 'darna f' Nelson li tmexxi Kindergarten ispirata minn Waldorf bl-isem ta 'Starseed Kindercottage.
