18 century house with a lot of character, in front of the Shannon river, 5 mins form Johns Castle, 5 mins walk from city center, & 2 mins from old Irish pub. Great walks around the river, and very close to many other Irish attractions.

“Limerick is a vibrant university city. Steeped in history, sport, music and culture. A gateway to the rest of the west of Ireland. Stay here in “Mignon” on the riverbank. Described in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage thus: “ This unusual house, distinguished by steep gables presents an interesting riverfront facing the Shannon. It forms part of a row of highly individualistic Victorian red brick houses on Clancy's Strand.” A lovely home, bearing actual scars of said history: “At the height of the Irish Civil War, the Strand Barracks (near next door), was besieged by Free State troops.” An ideal central location. There’s a little riverside park directly across the road from which to take in a view of King John’s Castle, the oarsmen skulling up the river from nearby boat-clubs or watch the swans surfing the gentle Curragower falls as the tide comes in. You will find, of all the amenities and activities in the town and for all this lovely house has to offer, the best part of Mignon and your stay there is your host Eithne. Eithne and Penny the poodle will welcome you and make you feel like family. A generous and friendly lady. Eithne will let you get on to make yourself at home in their home. Eithne will steer you right about which sights to see, restaurants to eat at and pubs to drink in and where the entertainment is. Not least to her favourite: The award winning Curragower bar & Restaurant: http://www.curragower.com for a hearty lunch and a pint. It’s only a short stroll up the road . Hop over the bridge into town or take stroll down the riverbank to the wildlife and wetland park: http://www.westfieldswetlands.com/ if you're a casual birdspotter. The city is eminently walkable from one historical monument to popular live music venue: https://www.dolans.ie/ or renowned sports stadium: http://thomondpark.ie/ A novel way to tour the city is provided by http://www.nevsailwatersports.ie/kayaking-canoeing If there isn’t enough to do in Limerick itself, it’s close enough to the West Coast - Clare and Galway to the north and Kerry and Cork to the south. Start early enough, you could get to any of these places, enjoy yourself, see some sights and still get back to Limerick in time for a pint before closing time. The house itself is warm, clean and cosy. It boasts some lovely period features like marble fireplaces. The beds are comfy. The kitchen is homely and the garden out the back is a little suntrap.”
