I am so excited to be back open for business after COVID and we are ready to start hosting guests again effective April 1, 2021. Come enjoy a bright, spacious, unique loft space in the beautiful Windy City!

DESCRIPTION:

Enjoy bright light and an open, airy feeling at the Skylight Loft! There are windows on all 4 sides AND a skylight as the name implies : ) Additionally, check out a unique layout with the bedroom area overlooking the living room with its 2-story ceilings and exposed brick wall. The loft is on 3rd & 4th floor of a coach house & can sleep up to 6! Updated kitchen & modern upstairs bathroom. Near park, public pool, 90/94 highway, Blue Line Division stop to O'Hare airport and downtown & 1 mile to 606 elevated walking, running & bike path. There is a half bath on the lower level and a newly rehabbed full bath & hardwood flooring upstairs.

The nearby Pulaski Park nearby (1 block away) has green space, a softball field, dog park area and swimming pool.

FAQs

1. Do you allow EVENTS, PARTIES or GATHERINGS?

No, you must follow Chicago’s COVID guidelines and be respectful of neighbors.

You will be charged $50/person per night for anyone who enters the unit who is not on the reservation. We do see this on our security camera and neighbors report everything to us as well.

2. LOCATING THE LOFT. How do I find the unit?

There are 2 buildings on this particular lot and my unit is in the rear building (coach house) when entering from the street. It can also be accessed directly through the alley (which has fewer stairs).

3. PAYMENTS. Do I have to pay everything now when I book?

This is handled by AirBnB, so I am not involved in this part. I believe there are a couple options including paying in full or dividing it in two payments. They automatically block out the date once payment has been arranged and at least the first installment paid. Pre-approvals and special offers last for 24 hours. During this time the loft is not blocked out or reserved for you. I am open to considering a lease for medium to long term stays.

4. PREVIEWS & TOURS. Can I see the place before booking?

No, there are no in-person tours available to see the place before booking.

5. What about NOISE and LIGHT?

I'm located about 5 buildings away from 90/94 (highway). There's no loud noise from this, but there is slightly more background noise. For example, you might have to turn the TV volume a little louder than normal or use the provided white noise machines at night. Also, there is a skylight, so light is always coming in. If you are sensitive to light, it may wake you up in the morning. I recommend bringing an eye mask, which is what I personally do when I live here myself. Also, the exposed brick wall "sheds" a small amount of sediment daily--this is not something most people notice, but a couple people have commented, so we address it upfront. We clean it before and after guests, but don't be surprised if you see some during your stay.

6. Can I have PETS over?

Unless it is a seeing eye dog, NO. You must disclose pets or there will be a $250 penalty per pet plus you will be responsible for any damage caused.

7. CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT. Can I check out late or leave my bags after the 12pm check-out time?

Sometimes we can accommodate luggage drop off prior to check-in once the prior guest has left--so 12pm or later. Otherwise, our guests use a luggage storage service in the area--check out Luggage Hero or Radical Storage to find a spot.

We do our best to accommodate early or late check-out, but we are often booked back-to-back. Typically, early and late check-out is not possible. If it is, we would have to wait until the day you check-in/checkout, so it'll be a game-time decision. Late checkouts cut into our cleaning time, so please be courteous to our cleaner and leave on time.

8. GETTING LOCKED OUT. What if I lock myself out or lose the keys?

We will drop what we're doing to come rescue you for $75; $150 on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter or NYE.

9. OTHER FEES. What additional fees might I incur?

This very rarely applies and most guests are wonderful. So, no fees if you're not breaking the rules . . . and those of you who are reading all this are probably not the ones we're concerned about, LOL, but thanks for your conscientiousness nonetheless!

If you're feeling rebellious, here are the fees for getting caught (and honestly we don't miss anything since we are friends with the neighbors and have multiple outdoor cameras on the property).

Tampering with the security camera - $500
Smoking weed in the unit - $400 for breaking the law on our property and $200 for extra cleaning to get rid of smell
Smoking weed on the porch (without a medical card) - $400 for breaking the law on our property
Additional hours of cleaning for damage caused - $40/hr
Hosting more guests than what you claim (we typically send a reminder on this before your stay in case you put "1 guest" as an accident) - $100 for the extra liability you're causing us & time we spend coming to the property and/or documenting your lie + $50 per head for every guest beyond 2 guests
Noise complaints by neighbhors - $100 per violation/complaint (the HOA charges me a $100 fee for noise complaints)
You will also be assessed a replacement fee for any property you damage in the unit and that will vary based on the replacement cost of the item.
