Our modern eco-friendly house is comfortable, surprisingly spacious, well appointed & sleeps five in two separate bedrooms plus a baby in a portacot, has a fully equipped kitchen is light & clean. We offer a child friendly home with books, games, movies (all ages), a trampoline, outdoor fire pit (please observe any total fire ban days) and easy access to the Steavenson River. One large living, kitchen, dining space with high ceilings and adjacent enormous deck partly covered with barbecue and picnic table. Please leave the house as you find it.

Discover pretty Marysville nestled in the foothills of Melbourne’s closest alpine resort. Only 90 minutes drive from Melbourne in the Mystic Mountains. Marysville is a destination for all seasons and the gateway to Lake Mountain for cross country skiing, tobogganing and other snow related fun!
Marysville is also home to the highest waterfall in Victoria, Steavenson falls. Visit any time, but the falls are particularly spectacular when flood lit at night (till 11PM)
Visit one of the wonderful café's and restaurants, watch the scenery and spot all the different birds, walk one of the many trails (from 1 hour to a full day hiking). Check out the skate park and huge new playground, have a picnic at Gallipoli Park and use one of the many free barbecues to cook up a storm, play a game on the sports oval, go mountain biking down hill from Lake Mountain, in Marysville itself or on the special MBT track in Buxton (11 kilometers). Enjoy a swim in the outdoor 33 meters pool from November - March. Play a round of golf or test your strength and vertigo on the nearby climbing wall or simply relax at the house. The house is in a quiet cul-de-sac, with access to Steavenson river at the bottom of the road. Crimson Rosella's, Kookaburra's, Finches, Cockatoos and King Parrots visit the deck most mornings and afternoons. Do NOT feed the Cockatoos as they are very destructive. Bird Watching can be done in many forest areas surrounding Marysville. The birds of the rainforests include Pilot Bird, Lyrebird, Satin Bower Bird, Whipbird, Golden Whistler, Yellow Robin, Grey Fantail, Grey Shrike Thrush, Striated Thornbills, Spotted Pardalotes, Honeyeaters and Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos.

We are a family of five, my partner René, myself and three teenagers.
We built Habitus House in Marysville as an Escape from the city and because we love the great outdoors, particularly hiking, swimming, mountain biking and skiing. Marysville offers all this in one beautiful location. The house has a small footprint, but is large in size, with high ceilings and a large open plan living and outdoor entertainment deck with barbecue. We have used mega anchors as stumps to ensure limited disturbance of the earth and major tree roots. A water tank under the house supplies all water with town water as backup. We also used honest materials such as recycled wood, cotton, linen and steel where possible. Many creative friends contributed to decorations, Rene made the tables and benches and soft furnishings were made by myself. The kids built the outdoor fire pit and the swivel hot plate. We try to get to Marysville as often as we can, but have noticed that our kids have more and more commitments in the city (sport, music, friends, projects, work). We think it is a shame for our cosy, comfortable house to stand empty and thought we would enable others to enjoy it when we are not able to ourselves.
