Finca al-manzil, a farm in the magical Sierra de Montanchez, Extremadura, a wonderful part of Spain with plenty to see and do. This is a unique property full of character. A perfect summer holiday, spring break or winter retreat for families, friends or couples. Bird watching and walking in the sierra are exceptional. Total privacy in a world of it own within walled grounds. Really gorgeous private pool, exclusive access for cortijo and barn if rented, great unspoilt views of the countryside

The cortijo has been lovingly renovated and we are constantly making improvements and adding lovely objects. It has a family home vibe, very welcoming and relaxed with lovely spaces inside and out.

Our nearest village is Montanchez famous for jamon, it's a perfect example of a village in the sierra with its own moorish castle, lovely surroundings of chestnut woods, stone walled olive groves, great hiking trails and spectacular views. We are in the best part of Extremadura, just 30 minutes from 3 UNESCO towns, Trujillo, Caceres and Merida, all fascinating with a lively culture, good restaurants and bars, shops.

I have lived in Extremadura for the last 10 years after living in Portugal for over 20 years. Manfred and I have designed and created a special atmosphere at Finca al-manzil. It reflects our many travels with interiors full of interesting objects, lots of books and dvds. The finca is a very tranquil place, great for really turning off for a while. There is a lovely pool for lounging, comfortable terraces around the house and beautiful walks straight from the finca. We love living here and introducing the wonders of Extremadura to others. Bird watching is a particularly rewarding pursuit. We love to cook and dinner is available to order, we also run cooking holidays several times a year and an organized walking holiday which includes trips to our wonderful historical towns, Caceres, Trujillo and Merida. Feel welcome to Finca al-manzil for a few nights with B&B or one or two or three or four weeks staying in the whole house as self catering guests.
