Located in the heart of town, ten minute walk to museums, National Theater, the mail Building and Central Avenue. The place has lots of light and a beautiful mountain view. It is spacious, has a full size bed and a pullover couch. Fully equipped kitchen with all the amenities and bathroom with hot water shower. The building does not have a garage or parking space. The address is pinned in google maps. It is self check in. No sexual tourism permitted. Read my reviews guests are very honest!
Self Check in Studio apartment, with full size bed and a pull over couch , internet and cable tv. Ideal if you come for vacation, and want to make one day trips to the mountains or to the beach, its also perfect for your first or last nights in Costa Rica, so you can get the feeling of busy down town. If you come for medical tourism it is about 15 minute drive to most hospitals and dental clinics, it is in the middle of the city. Located on the 5th floor, there is elevator, it has a great view of the mountains to the north side of town, and its located very close to all main museums and attractions in the heart of San Jose.
The place is located in the heart of the city and there is much traffic and people around the neighborhood specially in week days. San José is a very busy city, it gets very crowded during the day and at night gets lonely. It has a big population of homeless , so you should not be over confident when walking around the city. Although we are a small country every day in San José more then one million people go through the city on transit to work , school or hospitals, many located in the great metropolitan area. The apartment is located near hotels, restaurants, parks and a five minute walk to all the museums (Gold, Jade, National, Art) . Like any city that you are getting to know , you should ask for the zones to avoid, you find instructions right here if you read " Getting Around" (Guidebook). This place is just three blocks away from central avenue where you can find all the museums, restaurants and nice shops, it is a nice street walk!... There you can see the beautiful National Theater, on calle 2 and avenida 2 and you will find the Mail Building ,which is beautiful, is just two block away , both land marks are a "most see" in San José. You might want to go take a peak at the Hotel Costa Rica, which is the first hotel built in San Jose in the early 1900's, now it has been fully renovated and it was inaugurated last year. If you walk a bit west on second avenue you will find the Cathedral and Central Park, on the right the beautiful Melico Salazar theater. You can also find very nice souvenir shops just a couple of blocks away, or if you are more of an adventurer you should not miss the Central Market. The Jade and gold Museums , are a most if you like museums!!... Both within a 5 minute walk.

Quepos, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica

CORONA UPDATE We would like to offer stranded tourists in Costa Rica an accomodation. Please check out our updated pricing for long stays! No children under 5 years of age for safety reasons. The Tree House is hand-crafted, one of 3 casitas and 2 treehouses at the Bio Thermales natural resort organically integrated into our 35 acre rainforest. Guests enjoy free 24 hour access to the 12 natural hot and cool springs pools of various temperatures and rainforest trails.
Please message us if we will be your first or last destination in Costa Rica. We highly recommend booking on weekdays for more privacy and tranquility, as we have more day visitors from 9 am to 6 pm to our hot springs on the weekends, especially Sundays. If your reservation includes a Sunday, we highly recommend planning a day outing to the many wonderful nearby activities. We are three hours north of San Jose (airport), 45 minutes east of Fortuna and Volcano Arenal, and the many activities there and nearby. Guests enjoy 24/day access* to our hot springs and trails in our 35 acre rainforest at no extra charge. The pools are cleaned every morning starting at 6 am, but one hot spring will always be available. Many factors may dictate scheduling, including weather. We do not charge for children 17 and under -- but we will not accept reservations for the Tree House for families with children under 5 years old for whom a 20 foot fall from the balcony would be very serious. Our hot springs are ancient “deep Earth” sources that bubble up through the rainforest floor, laden with mineral-rich waters that have been in the Earth for at least 10,000 years. Our waters are rich in bicarbonates, calcium and magnesium, low in sulfur, and slightly acidic -- qualities shared by many of the world's best hot springs. Five of our 9 organic form hot springs pools are located in the rainforest, and 4 hot springs pools as well as a small and a large cool spring swimming pool are located in a meadow, surrounded by rainforest (see below for more information). The small and large cool springs pools both have water slides, and there is a small water slide in one of the shallow and moderate temperature pools for small children. The Tree House is built to strict Costa Rican building codes, but as with all tree houses, there is some movement when the wind blows, and this could be uncomfortable for people very sensitive to motion sickness. You may see our other listings on Airbnb at: Tucano Casita (Toucan Casita) is listed as "Rainforest Casita with Hot Springs": airbnb.com/rooms/30358 Mariposa Casita (Butterfly Casita) is listed as "Rainforest Casita2 with Hot Springs" airbnb.com/rooms/51518 Colibri Casita (Hummingbird Casita) is listed as "Rainforest Casita3 with Hot Springs" airbnb.com/rooms/1896911 Tree House: "Rainforest Tree House with Hot Springs" airbnb.com/rooms/50435 You can check availability of each accommodation by clicking on the "Calendar" tab above the main photo on each listing. Tree House features: (see floor-plan for all details): • Perched high among the rainforest trees, the Tree House has large screened areas for circulation of naturally cooler breezes. It also has fans. • All onsite hot springs and recreation activities included, including 24 hour access to the hot springs and cool spring swimming pools • The Master bedroom with a Queen sized bed with orthopedic mattress and hypoallergenic bedding is in a loft • One the main floor, two twin-sized beds that can double as settees with hypoallergenic bedding • Hand-crafted rustic furniture from naturally harvested trees on the land • Main floor kitchen with refrigerator, micro-wave, coffee maker, basic kitchenware • Bathroom with flash on-demand hot-water heater • Wrap around balcony for relaxing and animal and bird watching • Maid service every 3 days included • Laundry service at extra charge per load • Short walk to rainforest and hot springs pools • No telephone or television • WiFi internet for your laptop -- if reliable 24 hour internet is essential to you, please message us for suggestions. • Hosts Kathy and Bernie live onsite • Languages: English, Spanish, German, limited French One time $10 cleaning fee; thereafter housecleaning services every 3 days are free. Bio Thermales Hot Springs features: • Our hot springs pools are all-natural mineral water just as it flows from the Earth • Rainforest Pools from 90° - 105°F (31° - 40°C) • Grotto Pools in meadow flow from the 112°F/45°C source pool onward into two larger and progressively cooler pools which are handicap-accessible and suitable for small children. • Cool Pool in meadow is 90°F/31°C mineral water flowing from the thermal creek • 2 Swimming pools with continuous flow of natural cold spring water (88 degrees) - one is 1 to 1.5 meters deep, and the larger is 3 meters deep. • Bathhouse in meadow with handicap accessible bathrooms and showers • “Ranchos” – roofed tables with concrete floors and grills for picnics Other Activities on our 35 acre rainforest reserve: • Bird-watching: many types of toucans, oropendulas, parrots, hummingbirds, and the rare green macaw • Rainforest: enjoy it from the casita porch or hot springs pools, take easy walks on paths or more adventurous hikes • Fossils – enjoy our collection or hunt (gently) for your own • Wildlife: two-toed sloths, iguanas, capuchin and mantled howler monkeys, tree frogs, birds, butterflies, and many others. We are a 45 minute drive from the many activities in Fortuna and Volcano Arenal -- such as ziplines, hanging bridges, white water rafting, slow river floats or kayaking through wildlife sanctuaries -- or a 1.5 hour drive to La Paz Waterfall Gardens and Volcano Poas. Bio Thermales Hot Springs is open to the public for day use of the hot springs, and most of our day visitors are Costa Ricans, so you may also meet new Tico friends. Bio Thermales is generally not crowded, however, except on major holidays and Sundays. Food/Meals: The Tree House has a kitchen. There are many restaurants and a good supermarket within a 15 minute drive. Traditional Costa Rican meals can be delivered from a local caterer for very reasonable prices (Costa Rican food is tasty but not spicy). Otherwise, for those without cars, we can call a taxi or synchronize a food shopping trip when we go to town for errands. Driving from SJO airport: Please message us before booking if we are your first and/or last destination in Costa Rica. We recommend at least a small 4 wheel drive car. The last 3 kilometers are country roads. Three hours of daylight are needed to safely drive here from the SJO airport before sunset at 5:30 pm. The drive through mountainous cloud forests is splendid in daylight, but prone to fog and rain, especially at night, creating hazardous visibility conditions after dark. Finding our countryside location will also be far easier if you arrive the first time before sunset. If your plane lands in the morning to noon, you can drive here directly from the airport. Otherwise, it is safer to book a room near the airport on your first night, or ask us to book a private driver ($145) and have a rental car delivered at no extra charge. Last night in Costa Rica: Driving directly to the SJO airport on the same day is possible if you book a flight in the afternoon. Please be aware that you must be at the airport 2.5 hours before departure. If you have an early morning departing flight it is basically necessary to stay near the airport on the night before.
We are in the countryside in a non-touristy rural area of family farms, orchards and rainforest, off the beaten tourist track. The last 2 km are unpaved country roads. Guests should expect a natural environment, integrated into the rainforest, with the usual wildlife native to a tropical rainforest (except there are no large jungle cats like jaguars). We are a 45 minute drive from the many activities in Fortuna/Volcano Arenal, including volcano hikes, ziplines, swimming in the pristine waters below the La Fortuna Waterfall, white water rafting and slow "safari float" rafting to see monkeys, sloths and other animals. Closer to us is a slow river raft tour, rainforest hikes or horseback riding, and a visit to the Iguana Bridge with many large iguanas within a 15 minute drive.

Beautiful, private villa with a fabulous ocean view and a secluded, infiniti pool. Very popular villa with both honeymooners and retired people. It is a private subdivision with 30 villas with support from rental managers and other staff. The villa is almost equal distant from both Liberia - LIR and San Jose - SJO airports. I believe it is easier to drive south from Liberia airport on a straight, scenic and paved highway 21.
The 3000 square feet villa is on a very private, 2/3 acre lot with ocean and rain forest views. The beautiful swimming pool is partially shaded by a picturesque "Corteza Amarillo" tree. The villa has "Almond Wood" hardwood floors in the living area including bedrooms. The full kitchen has black granite counter tops. All appliances, pots, silverware, china and coffeemaker are included in the kitchen. The gazebo has both gas Bar-B-Q and 4 burner electric cook-top with ocean views. Master bathroom has 2 large bowl sinks, large tub with no water jets, bidet and large windows with a view of the rain forest. The house a large, flat screen TV, amplifier with whole house, surround sound, speaker system. The house has 10 fans and air conditioning. The large master bedroom has a king bed and the second spacious suite has a full bath with two queen beds. The house is on a hill top with wonderful 120 degree views of Nicoya bay and the hilltop location gives one a unique sense of Privacy with no neighbor to look in. The subdivision is 3 miles from the ferry station but it is advisable to rent an SUV so short day trips to Nicoya, Samarra, Carillo, Tambor, Paqueras ( Tortuga island snorkeling ) can be done. Renters have access to a near by grocery and liquor store. The store also provides DVDs and books free of charge. Concierge service is also included. The "Roma del Mar" development has 2 private beaches and a private pier for fishing. There are numerous beaches close by (Playa Blanca 5 kms away) and a golf course at the Tambor Bay. A one time payment of $100 is required for cleaning the villa both before and after the rental. All day maid for cooking is available through the manager and a massage specialist manicurist/ pedicurist available - reservations through management. The internet access via a router in the villa is free. Location Description: Playa Naranjo, Puntarenas, Costa Rica (next to Cabo Blanco on the internet map site), Central America. Fly to Liberia Airport (Code: LIR). Two hours drive from Liberia airport and 5 minute drive from Puntarenas/Playa Naranjo Ferry.

Stay in a cozy 1 BR or 2 BR, upscale Costa Rican-style bungalows with a pristine pool at your doorstep. Look out over the trees to the Pacific ocean from your private balcony and listen to the birds and howler monkeys that call the gardens of Casa Tranquila home.
This one-bedroom architect-designed bungalow comes fully equipped for short stays and month-long getaways. It's perfect for honeymooners or families with up to two kids, as well as small groups of friends. The kitchenette has everything you'll need to eat at home if you wish. The bungalow has a comfy bed, air conditioning throughout, a daybed that fits two people in the living space. The bathroom has a huge glassed-in shower with a big window to the gardens, where monkeys pass regularly. Just outside your door is a cool swimming pool and wooden deck for relaxing, as well as plenty of hammocks. Casa Tranquila was designed with sustainability in mind. The property takes advantage of sea breezes for passive cooling, minimizing the need for A/C. The gray water from your bungalow feeds into the trees and other plants that surround the property instead of washing into the ocean.
Casa Tranquila is located on a hill in a quiet, residential neighborhood of Tamarindo – far enough from the busy downtown that you won't be kept awake by the parties but close enough that you're just a 10 minute walk away from the center of town or 14 minutes to the beach.

Our magic Dome is quiet and calm, perfect for those who prefer to avoid the masses and noise. It is separate from the other facilities and has a kitchen, a shower and an outdoor air bath surrounded by our young reforested forest. The view of Puntarenas and the starry sky at night is overwhelming. The dome has a special price since it is in the test phase. In our survey, they told us we could charge the couple $ 150 a night, so take advantage!
The Dome is simply unique. During the day, we recommend relaxing in our hammocks by the pool or simply doing things like hiking, visiting rivers or the canopy. We recommend downloading Google Star Map, then you can navigate through the stars, satellites and constellations. In New Moon, you will be impressed by the starry sky you can see from the bed and the view of Puntarenas as a chain of light and its surroundings. From 6 in the evening until 9 in the morning.
We hope you will not only be our guests but also become our friends, having the same aim: enjoying this beautiful country with the incredible flora and fauna and the very friendly locals or ‘ticos’ as the Costa Rican’s call themselves. Enjoy Costa Rica with all its nature and gentle people and as the ticos say: PURA VIDA!

Montezuma, Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Super magical & unique tree house based on sacred geometry located on an active organic farm. It's truly in the trees, not just on stilts. It's composed of 4 rustic open air structures: the Awarenest - a separate 360 view deck 9m (30ft) high, the Bedroom Pod - with hanging bed, desk, northern view of the mountains and half bath with suspended bridge to full Kitchen Pod both at 4.5m (15ft) high and lastly a separate bathroom/shower pod at 3m (12ft). Basically a jungle farm wildlife adventure.
The main initial structure, the bedroom is actually suspended by cables between 5 strong Melina trees. The sacred geometry shape is an Icosahedron, one of the 5 platonic solids. It’s composed of 20 equilateral triangles that join at 12 vertices roughly making a spherical shape. The bedroom has a queen bed with canopy mosquito net, a built in desk, a small sink (with running water) and mirror and small porch. Just outside the bedroom is a half bathroom with flushing toilet. The kitchen, connected to the bedroom by a bridge has a full size sink, half size fridge, toaster oven, 1 burner gas stove, plenty of counter space and built in couch/bench that can sleep a 3rd person, but it's narrow and not very comfortable for sleeping (which is why it's a 2 person listing). The full bathroom in a separate tree, has flushing toilet, sink and shower with 2 heads, one is cold only and one has hot and cold. Plenty of privacy but open air with a view. It has a ladder access. The view deck, called the Awarenest is about 30' up with quite an amazing view. It's accessible by a series of ladders, so not for the faint of heart. It's a great spot for yoga, meditation or just relaxing on top of the world. It's in the tallest, highest tree in the area. I say highest because it's also at the top of a little hill. It's truly one of a kind! There is a new restaurant on site called Wonderland that is a short walk from the treehouse. My property manager will be able to show you how to find it if you're looking for a healthy and delicious food option.
It’s 15 min drive to the Montezuma beach and about 25 min drive to Mal Pais and Santa Teresa Beaches. It’s nicely settled in the hills between them. Also about 15 minutes from Cobano, the largest town in the area for supplies, etc. Those times change based on road conditions. It’s not actually very far, but you wont’ be driving super fast. There’s a wonderful authentic Italian restaurant located close by, in the middle of no where. Their pizza is amazing and cooked in a wood fired home made earth oven, hence the restaurants name, Tierra Y Fuego (earth and fire). They are only open Thursday-Sunday and closed for most of Sept/Oct.

Santa Teresa, Malpais, Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Beautiful & very private 'eco-luxury' retreat near South Pacific Coast (4 hours drive with 4x4) from SJO (San Jose Airport). Our unique & stunning location offers guests panoramic sea views & hangs dramatically over the jungle canopy. Romantic getaway, nature lovers and adrenalin junkies paradise!
WELCOME to Pura Vida Ecolodge, a unique 'eco-luxury' award-winning retreat nestled amongst virgin rain forest just 5 km from the volcanic sands of the Pacific Ocean in Central America's Costa Rica. The ecolodge been awarded with a 'Certificate of Excellence' every year since opening by TripAdvisor, was designed by award winning Architect Franco Casalvolone (FCB Arquitectura) and has been awarded with the Airbnb 'Super Host' badge for the last four consecutive seasons as well! This is the place for guests who want to disconnect, be ‘off-grid’ and get away from it all. It’s for those of you who have a sense of adventure, are up for trying something new, enjoy bumpy and steep roads in a 4x4 (not AWD) and who, come rain or shine, won’t let the weather stop them from doing what they want. It’s an adrenalin junkies paradise, perfect for those who want to wake up to the sounds of monkeys, trek through the jungle and jump in a freshwater plunge pool all before breakfast! It’s for the nature lovers among you who will no doubt discover animals of all shapes and sizes throughout their stay both on our lodge’s doorstep and with perhaps, the occasional smaller visitor inside. It's for the venturesome globetrotter who doesn't mind the occasional cold shower when the solar panel doesn't get enough sun or the intense heat or humidity as the season dictates. It’s for new age travellers who are ready to respect, accept and embrace a different and more laid back culture than perhaps they’re used to ‘back home’. It’s for those of you that are happy with less and don't constantly strive for more more more, as we’ve tried to incorporate the ‘pure life’ lifestyle that Costa Rica’s Zona Sur offers in abundance into the design of our lodge, so it’s the perfect getaway for those who are ready to arrive with their minds and eyes wide-open, for guests that seek romance, beauty, fun and adventure. This is, as they say, the ‘real' Costa Rica as our beautiful and breezy location, at an altitude of just over 300 meters and with over 3 acres of private land, boasts stunning panoramic sea views over the lush valleys towards the meandering 'Rio Terraba' and directly faces the Pacific Ocean, Costa Rica's spectacular sunsets and the world famous National Parks - Isla del Caño & Osa Peninsula. The most magical times are the early mornings and late afternoons where you can sit back with a freshly made juice or a glass of wine and be a spectator of nature with monkeys, pizotes, parrots and toucans all frequently visiting the lodge and it's surrounding reserve. Pura Vida Ecolodge is a peaceful sanctuary to experience and embrace the 'Pura Vida' (Pure Life). A destination where guests can enjoy not only a memorable holiday, but tranquility, adventure and equilibrium in a utopia second to none. LOCATION & ACTIVITIES - At the same time as being near local beaches, restaurants and other tourist attractions, Pura Vida Ecolodge's location is both remote and private and the retreat itself will provide you with all sorts of adventures and experiences. We have our own nature trails, waterfalls & natural plunge pools both near the ecolodge & on the edge of the Pura Vida Ecolodge Reserve - the easiest trail starts right by the ecolodge, with more challenging treks on the edge of the reserve just a short up-hill walk (300m) from the lodge. Your adventure can be as extreme or relaxing as you choose with a plethora of natural swimming pools, waterfalls and rock faces to explore! Whether you are honeymooners, a group of friends or a large family of 7, you will have the entire ecolodge just to yourselves. We have also planted lots of trees, so please be our guests and pick any of the fruits they are all obviously 100% organic! If you venture off any of the paths, take your boots and maybe a hiking pole. We are just a 10-15 minute drive (depending on season, road conditions and of course your 4x4 driving skills) from the Costa Nera Highway allowing guests to easily explore the area with day trips to two of Costa Rica's most popular national parks (Manuel Antonio & Corcovado), stunning beaches (Playa Arco, Tortuga y Ventanas are our three favourites) and our concierge service can help with tours and boat trips, trekking options, scuba diving & snorkelling trips, kayaking, stand up paddling, surfing, hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, canopy lines and horse riding etc. The nearby village of Ojochal (just 5 minutes up the Costa Nera) is one of a few local villages hosting a whole load of fine dining and fusion restaurants or if you'd prefer to relax 'at home' we can arrange a professional chef and his team to prepare gourmet meals with local organic ingredients for guests to enjoy in the comfort of the lodge, food parcels and additional fruit baskets can also be delivered direct to the Jungle Villa. ECO-TRAVEL - Eco-travel in Costa Rica is your ticket to explore a plethora of amazing places that care just as much about the environment as they do about their guests. It's a country where 'organic' is as important as 'stylish', and the government plans to make it the world's first carbon-neutral country by 2021. ‘Pura vida' is Costa Rica's national motto, and for good reason. It's a real paradise: Our guests can enjoy the 'pure life' in some of the world's most bio-diverse jungles, rain forests and coastlines. The country's book-ended by beaches on its Pacific and Caribbean sides (hence the laid-back surfer ethos that characterizes coastal life) and inland, nature holds way: a full quarter of Costa Rica is protected land, from the smouldering volcanoes to dense jungles. In the highlands, farms and plantations produce delicious tropical fruit – as well as some of the finest coffee ever to grace your espresso PURA VIDA ECOLODGE FAQs: - WILL I NEED A 4x4 CAR? Yes, our retreat is situated 5km from the coast and the village of Coronado on a well maintained gravel road into the coastal mountains. A 4WD car is necessary (not AWD more notes in welcome pack). There is a convenience store or “soda" as they are called in Costa Rica, at the Coronado junction, where you can get the majority of your groceries and supplies. For supermarkets, restaurants/bars, beaches, bigger stores, etc. you would require transportation to the local towns of Ojochal (5 mins), Uvita (15 mins) up the Costa Nera Highway. Several taxi services are available but you cannot beat the independence of having your own 4WD. Driving time from San Jose is normally around 4 hours but please note driving times & conditions can vary and be quite unpredictable in Costa Rica so best to allow up to 5 hours. Full details & directions in welcome pack TIP: Bring coins and change from the US or change colones for the highway tolls! - WHO SHOULD I RENT OUR 4WD WITH? We have been working with Vamos Rent-a-Car since we opened. They speak English and they have various offices around the country (Near San Jose Airport and Dominical amongst others). They will meet you off your flight or even at your hotel if you're setting off early in the morning. Be sure to mention us and Pura Vida Ecolodge to get the best prices & treatment. You should allow around an hour for vehicle collection and paperwork. - IS THERE SOMEONE IN COSTA RICA WHO CAN ASSIST ME WHILE I AM THERE? Yes, once you book Pura Vida Ecolodge, you will be sent the welcome pack which includes all the details of our housekeeper and his wife, who together with myself and Kika, will double up as your 'concierge service' leading up to and throughout your stay. Though our housekeepers are Spanish speaking only, they are very knowledgeable on the area and will be there at checkin & checkout and can help you throughout your stay with anything you might need. I'm sorry we cannot be there but you'll be in very good hands, Gersan & Ili are practically family! - IS THERE A BEACH NEARBY THAT IS EASY TO GET TO? Yes, in fact you are really quite spoilt for choice. Playa Tortuga is the nearest and possibly one of our favourites. Once down at the Costa Nera, it is just a 5 minute drive up the coast with the entrance just before Ojochal. A short drive further up the coast takes you to Playa Piñuelas, Playa Ventanas and then the stunning national park of Marina Ballena and Uvita. Full directions (including which beaches are best for swimming and surfing etc is included in your welcome pack). -HOW EASY IS IT TO FIND PURA VIDA ECOLODGE? Upon confirming your reservation, we send all our guests a welcome pack with very clear directions including photos of landmarks along the way. This is updated monthly as we aim to give all our guests as up-to-date info and recommendations as possible -ARE THERE RESTAURANTS AND SHOPPING NEARBY? Ojochal is the nearest town with a really good selection of fine & casual dining. You can find Fusion, Italian, Asian, “Typical Costa Rican," even a deli/bakery and a handful of great fruit smoothie and ceviche places. Further up the coast there is Uvita, again with a good balance of International and 'local' options. We include a full list of recommendations (both restaurants & bars) in the welcome pack. For shopping, you may wish to visit the bustling tourist town of Manuel Antonio (50-60 minutes drive north) which has souvenir, jewellery, and art/craft shops and many lively restaurants (we recommend a trip to Manuel Antonio, anyway, for the national park, which a lot of our guests do either on the way down or on the way back up to San Jose. -ARE THERE EXCURSIONS & ACTIVITIES CLOSE BY? Yes, yes, yes! Again, you can find more details on the Pura Vida Ecolodge web site, but there are spectacular waterfalls, nature trails and plunge pools right in the reserve itself. The surrounding area offers world class scuba diving, snorkelling, zip-lining, boat tours, mangrove tours, hiking, stand-up paddling, horseback tours, canyoning, as well as being located between the country's best national parks (Corcovado & Manuel Antonio) and a 20 minute drive from Marina Ballena National Park. There are dozens of picturesque, quiet beaches all the way up and down the Southern Pacific coast, with enough activities and adventures on offer to do something completely different every day! We can also recommend great day trips to the Osa Peninsula, Sierpe and Nuayaca Falls amongst others and an overnight option to Mt Chirripo is incredible if you have the time. For surfers, Playa Dominical has a famous left and right beach surf break, and waves 95% of the year. Closer to the lodge, Playa Tortuga and Ventanas often have good waves more for beginners or if you're after an almost private beach and wildlife experience, you can have breakfast or lunch at La Cusinga and then explore the different monkey colonies. if you're lucky you might spot some Red Scarlet Macaws and guests also regularly see lots of toucans and different types of parrots. The 10-min walk through the jungle down to Playa Arco is well worth the trek! -IS IT A QUIET NEIGHBOURHOOD? Yes, Pura Vida Ecolodge is the best of both worlds. While being a completely private retreat and reserve (both the house, pool and the surrounding nature trails) with it's orientation meaning that the property literally hangs over the jungle canopy on one side and directly faces the Pacific coast on the other, you will have a handful of neighbours nearby in the slowly growing community if you wanted a friendly chat or even some more tips on the area. -IS THERE A GROCERY STORE NEARBY? There is a good little 'pulperia' (small local store) on the crossroads at Coronado (around 5km away) that will most likely have most things you would need. There is also a great fish/seafood place just 1 km from the Coronado junction. For larger shopping, there are two big supermarkets ( as well as a really good Pharmacy) in Uvita, about 15 minutes up the coast -DOES THE ECOLODGE HAVE INTERNET AND CAN I PURCHASE A LOCAL CELL NUMBER? Yes, while the house is equipped with a 3g hotspot for internet connection, please remember that due to our 'off the beaten track location' the connection can be a little variable and while generally fine for whats app and checking news headlines and the odd email etc, you shouldn't expect to be able to stream movies etc. Additionally guests (with unblocked smart phones) can purchase a sim card for around $5 with KOLBI by the luggage claim in San Jose airport that will also give you reasonable 3G throughout Costa Rica, you just need a passport. While cellphone signals have greatly improved in the country in recent years, there are some spots around Coronado that don't have reception but there is consistently good signal in and around Pura Vida Ecolodge. -WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE? A more detailed description of Costa Rica's seasons can be found on the Pura Vida Ecolodge web site, but in general you can expect about 85+ degrees at the beach year round. The only difference in climate year round is that May-November is the "green," or rainy season, and December through March/April is the dry season. The temperature up at the Ecolodge is always a few degrees cooler because it is around 1000ft. elevation, and you get great mountain breezes. Likewise, because of its proximity to the equator, the sunrise is around 5-5.30am with the sunsetting at 5.30-6pm. The ‘Green season's' rains are quite welcoming, it's always hot and the partial clouds and afternoon rains are soothing. Typically the rains start on the mountains between 2-4pm, maybe a little later by beach. For us, the best times of the day are between 5-7am. The congo monkeys will wake you up, and it's the most glorious part of the day and besides you'll most likely be asleep by 8/9pm! It's amazing how quickly you'll adjustment! -DOES THE LODGE HAVE AC? In short no. But both bedrooms/suites have excellent ceiling fans (with 5-speed settings). Please note there are ceiling fans in the living room and kitchen area as well and the Ecolodge has been designed with your comfort in mind, with large-open plan living spaces, surrounded by sliding doors leading out onto the wrap around decks which mean there are lovely fresh sea-breezes throughout. -WILL I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME? You need not bring any household items as all bedding, tableware, towels (for both inside and pool area), cookware etc are all provided. We also provide a wonderful fruit basket and some other local delicacies on arrival. Please bring beach towels and your personal items, and of course a sense of 'Pura Vida' adventure! -IS PURA VIDA ECOLODGE A PRIVATE LOCATION? Yes, not only is the location incredibly private but regardless of your group size, you will have the entire retreat (house and surrounding reserve) just to yourselves. A lot of our guests are honeymooners and couples, as well as groups of friends and entire families. Either way, whether you are 2 people or a group of 6 with kids, you will have the entire property to yourself. - IS COSTA RICA SAFE? In general Costa Rica is very safe, however petty crimes do happen especially by the beaches or touristy areas. Do not bring any valuables to Costa Rica with you and especially do not bring them with you to the beach. TIP: Leave the glove department open to indicate it's empty.
The neighbourhood offers guests peace and quiet and has an abundance of nature and stunning flora and fauna. You can wake with the sounds of the congo howler monkeys and watch the sunset as the toucans fly right by the house. There are nature trails and waterfalls just a short walk away plus plenty of adventures on Pura Vida Ecolodge's doorstep!

It describes a magical secret garden, surrounded by high walls and towers, a river running through it down to the sea, beautiful gardens with blossoming trees, ancient forests and rolling hills... Perfect apartment for one, couple or small family. Very close to restaurants, bars, information offices, supermarkets and other services, but far from the noise. Some free attractions at less than 10 minutes walking. The apartment has a Queen bed, a sofa, a small table for 4 and a small but well equipped kitchen. There is a parking space inside the property. There is also a big balcony around the apartment with a couple of reclinable chairs and a small table.
The apartment is in a great location. Close to the center of town where most service and goods are, but away enough from the noise. The neighbourhood is calm and safe, surrounded by may patches of forest. Through the main windows you can see the middle and top part of the trees right next to it, so you get a good chance of watching some birds and other animals.
The neighbourhood is very quiet. There are only a few neighbours and they are not very close to us. Most of the neighbourhood is surrounded by patches of forest. You can safely go on a walk around and get to know a little about how we live. Close to us there is the soccer field, primary and high schools, fire station, small businesses, and other essential services that keep the town running.

Stay in the middle of the rainforest with its abundant wildlife, in your own comfortable house. Just minutes from little fishermanvillage of Manzanillo (with small shops and restaurants) and the caribbean sea with its picture perfect beaches
Fascinating jungle experience in the middle of the Caribbean rainforest of Costa Rica! Our distinguished lodge on 16+ acres of private property is situated in the Gandoca Manzanillo wildlife refuge, with the beautiful Caribbean sea less then a mile away. You will stay in one of our comfortable, fully equipped houses on stilts. Experience the jungle like never before. Have the monkeys waiting outside your window as you wake up to the sounds of tropical birds singing (more than 100 species counted on our property). There are sloths, nosebears, other mammals, frogs, many insects and so much more…you are truly in the middle of the rainforest. Relax in the Costa Rican rain forest, drinking a good bottle of wine on your jungle porch. Have a massage, walk our private nature tracks or relax at the creek that runs through the property. Go on one of the many excursions we can arrange for you. Visit the picture perfect & quiet Caribbean beaches just a few minutes away! Venture into Cahuita National park or the Gandoca Manzanillo wildlife refuge. Enjoy a night out in the bustling beach town of Puerto Viejo (9 miles away). But most of all look forward to waking up in a jungle paradise that seems to have been created especially for you… El Arbol (the tree) is the creation of Jan Hein (designer and creator of the lodge) and Marjolein (counsellor and international marketer) from the Netherlands. We want to offer our guests comfort while at the same time they are being totally immerged in nature. The idea is to offer guests a pure, private and personal experience. We are nature lovers ourselves and we would like to show you and your loved ones nature as it can still be found on this planet. Enjoy nature without compromising on comfort. We believe that the natural beauty in the lay of the land is best left as it is, especially if one of your goals is seeing animals. This theory is proven by the abundant wildlife that visits our 16+ acre property every day. We continue to let nature work her magic. Landscaping is done only around houses and common areas. We have a natural path through our rainforest that we keep clean and accessible; the rest of the jungle remains untouched. Outdoor lighting is romantic but restricted to what is necessary for orientation, safety & security. El Árbol philosophy: Our philosophy is to create a unique and personalized jungle experience in the midst of complete comfort. Feel the mental and physical wellbeing that nature provides. We also place extra emphasis on being eco friendly and globally conscious. You as our guest take part in this process as 5% of your lodging fees will be donated to local charities. The houses are designed with style, the immediate environment, comfort and safety in mind. Our houses are beautifully and interestingly designed. They are built on poles so you have the feeling you you are living and sleeping in the treetops and have round shapes, rich colors and exciting features. Every house has its own jacuzzi ( please note : the water is warm not hot like in the west ) from which you can see the jungle and its wildlife. The houses have a fully equipped kitchen, master bedroom, large living room with an extra sleeping sofa/bed, luxury bathroom, safe and all beds have the best orthopedic mattresses with good quality mosquito nets. Because of their design and the protection from the rainforest's canopy, the houses have a comfortable, cool climate. Also there is a fully equipped private kitchen inside where you can prepare your meal or just a cup of coffee or tee in the morning... We want you to feel comfortable and at ease in our place and offer you the possibility to look behind the scenes of commercial tourism and learn a little more about the region you are visiting.
We are located in a very safe and friendly neighborhood. We are walking distance to Cocles beach, the only beach in the Caribbean with lifeguard protection, supermarket, Jaguar Rescue Center, bycicle rental, restaurants, beach bar, a fruit and veggie stand with cheap and fresh local fruits (also selling chilled young coconuts called pipas and almost all fruits are organic from local farms). This beautiful countryside villa, is located in a privilege location with panoramic views to Cartago Valley. We have a very big property about 2 hectares at your complete disposal, with pool, nice deck to overview the valley, inside chimney, bbq in the terrace and much more that is seating for you. The place has just been renew with new furnishings, and we have work hard to make it better so you can come and have a wonderful moments here.
Beautiful countryside house, with 3 bedrooms each with its own private bathroom and full size bed (in one there is a king size bed), very modern, and spacious. additionally it has two sofa beds in the living room. The hot water for shower is only available in the two secondary bathrooms not in the main one, just to keep in mind. The house has an amazing view to the Volcano, and the surroundings are just perfect for nature lovers. the property has it own pool. Around the property there is a Fruteria about 2 km ( this is a place to buy fresh vegetables and fruits from the area), also there is a big supermarket where you can find everything about 15 minutes away. There is a national park just 2 hours away, it is vary famous and its call TAPANTI. The house can is recommended to be access by a 4x4 car, because in sometimes of year it gets very rainy, and although we try to keep a good maintenance on the road, its better with this type of vehicle, also if needed we can arrange transportation, such as pick up and drop off from and to the property if you wish. The property is simple an amazing place to place, it has its own BBQ, in case you want to have a grill during sunset, and it is located on the top a hill, so the views to the valley are just breathtaking. sometimes it can get foggy, but i believe its part of the experience, its totally peaceful and there is also the possibility to arrange a guided walked to the property surroundings.

Charming Llano Grande is 2 kms away from downtown Llano Grande, a rural community on the slopes of the Irazú volcano, well known for being home to a hard working agricultural community, that crops flowers, vegetables, strawberries. Also, a place where catholic traditions are very much alive, including local processions of saints and virgins. As well, where oxcart parades are common and heavily praised.

The rustic villa is located less than 5 minutes away from La Fortuna Downtown (closest town to Arenal Volcano), away from the noisy streets but at the same time, close to all the principal attractions (hot springs, waterfalls, National Parks, Hanging Bridges, etc). It features: * 1 king size bed, comfortable sofa-bed, fully equipped kitchen along with a nice bar counter top and chairs, flat screen T.V with satellite connection, full bathroom with shower and hot water, Internet connection.
This villa is located in the best area that you will find at La Fortuna town, less than 10 minutes away from downtown but super close to all attractions. This gives you the chance to stay in a super quiet and relaxing place, away from the noisy streets. The villa is located in a 10 hectares farm, that gives you the chance to have a REAL Costa Rican experience and to feel immersed in the culture. Staying in this place will give you the chance to visit Sloth's Territory, a project that also belongs to the family that owns this villa and the farm.
Since the villa's location is in a extensive farm, practically there is not a specific neighborhood. The owner's house is about 50 meters away from the villa, so won't worry and don't be scared, you won't fell insecure or completely alone. You will have your complete privacy but at the same time you will feel safe. Sloth's Territory (the trail that you have full access if you stay in this villa) is located less than 50 meters away and it is a total trail of 1300 meters, which extends along the natural forest surrounded La Havana River. It is a guided hike and during the activity, the trail allows you to enjoy a gallery forest with lush vegetation and giant trees as Chilamate and Guácimo Colorado; constituting the habitat of many species like: opossums, two and tree-toed sloths and many birds such as toucans, tanagers and others. But the main attraction is the sloths watching. The Rodriguez Family, a traditional Costar Rican family, will be your guides, since trying to find sloths require high skills because they use to have an excellent camouflage that make them imperceptible, for not trained eyes. The trail is accessible for all ages, so this is an activity where the whole family can enjoy it. The duration of this activity can be from 30 minutes to 2 hours, all depends if you want to focus just on the sloths or if you are interest of watching more plants and animals. The entrance fee is us$20 per person for adults and $15 for children. It is open from 7:15am to 4pm.

Torre Alta Lodge are cabins located atop a mountain surrounded by jungles. We offer magnificent, unparalleled views of the Turrialba a volcano, which is located directly across the valley from the cabins. We are focused on nature and sustainability.
Our cabins were created to offer our guests the ability to disconnect and completely relax. However, we completely understand that in our digital era it is sometimes necessary to stay in touch with the rest of the world and we therefore offer free high speed wifi in all of our cabins. We have built the cabins with our harvested lumber and are keeping our impact on our environment to a minimum. We recycle, compost and use rain water for all our needs. Each cabin comes equipped with bottled drinking water, a small fridge and coffee maker. Each cabin also has a front porch with breathtaking views of the Turrialba valley and the majestic Turrialba and Irazu volcanos. As the volcano is currently active, you can witness smoke plumes floating from the top of the volcano. We offer horseback rides with our guide. He has developed various routes in the area, all levels of experience. Our most popular ride is the one that takes you into birdwatching areas, sitting on the horse and not having to worry about walking gives you a great opportunity to see so much more. Drink from our natural spring and see how we are a major part of the water shed that supplies the town below us. We offer meals made mostly with organic vegetables and fruits from a local small farmers coop. We can help schedule white water rafting on the pristine Pacuare River. We encourage you to come with enough time to enjoy all we offer. We look forward to having you as a guest.
We are quite isolated and adequate planning regarding transportation is required. Our guests can choose to rent a car, but a 4x4 is very necessary as the roads are quite rough. In fact, for those guests that are planning on making it up to the cabins in their rented vehicle, we strongly suggest that only drivers experienced in rough terrain attempt this. We also will gladly pick you up from the local town, San Rafael, and shuttle you up and down the mountain whenever needed. We highly recommend a GPS which can be rented at the car rental office.

Dear adventurers and nature lovers ! Costa Rica is a third world country, you'll drive on a dirt road 30 min. or more, depending on vehicle, weather conditions, and your dirt road experience. Get a 4x4 and arrive during day time. At 600m above sea level, enjoy the pleasant climate, sweeping views of the valley, sea and forest. Explore the surroundings, take a dip in the pool, or natural stream.
Important: We do only rent the entire house because of the privacy of our guests! The house itself has a lot of stairs, so be warned if you're traveling with anyone who might have a hard time with these (elderly, kids, etc.). Designed in a modern architectural style with large expanses of glass, filling living areas with natural light is split into two units that are connected by a breezeway. There are a total of 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms and 3.5 baths to accommodate 10 guests. In the smaller unit which can sleep 4 guests, there are two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, a bathroom with shower, kitchen with dining area, and a balcony with football table(URL HIDDEN) The larger unit which can sleep 6 guests has two levels. The lower level contains a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living room with sofa bed, a large terrace and a bedroom for 1 guest, a guest bathroom and a separate shower. The upper level contains a large studio room with a sofa bed, a large bedroom with queen-size bed and private terrace, a walk-in closet, and a master bath with a bathtub.
The property is located on the hills between Parrita and Quepos. Parrita is the closest town, and Palo Seco is the closest beach. Both Palo Seco and Parrita are about ½ hour drive away. The off road from Parrita to Casa Altamar is about 19 km. At Las Vegas, a village on the way (15 minutes) you will find a Soda (alike a greasy spoon cafe) and a basic grocery store. There is another Village near by, but everything is very basic and the shops close early. So we recommend purchasing what you need in Parrita as you will find more selection.

Our bungalow is nestled on the edge of a working cacao Forest. Chocolate is made right here on the property. The ocean view is stunning and many animals like parrots, toucans, sloths, monkeys and iguanas are seen often. Sunrises and moon rises are spectacular!
Our bungalow is located 50 meters up the ridge from our main guest house. This is accessed via stairs and path. One parking space is available either below at the main house or above the bungalow in an upper area. 4 wheel drive vehicle is needed to get up a few steep parts of our entrance. Property is not wheelchair accessible and therefore not recommended for those with disabilities or small children.
Our community is a very diverse one. We have many different nationalities as well as the local indigenous and Afro Caribbean locals. This makes this area very unique and like no other in Costa Rica. You can visit local tribal areas and listen to Reggae bands at night. Our international cuisine is found in many restaurants and of course local Caribbean seafood. Surfing, hiking, snorkeling, kayaking , zip line canopy, and many other activities are available.
