The Crossing Retreat is a timber clad modern barn which has been renovated to give guests a taste of the countryside with a quirky twist. The large bi-folding doors along one side of the Retreat allow guests to open up their living space to the outdoors, perfect for those warm evenings. In the cooler months it provides a great source of light, enabling guests to watch the world go by from the warm and cosy comfort of indoors. The surrounding fields provide lovely views from the Crossing Retreat’s private courtyard garden where guests can enjoy the lantern lit outdoor seating area.
Tunstead has many traffic free walks/ cycle routes and a very cute watering hole which welcomes passers by with home cooked lunches, local ales, cakes and evening meals at the weekend. St Mary church at the end of the lane is a particularly vast church for such a small village, so too is the church at Worstead just 2.5miles away. This village is also host to Titchfest held this year on 25th-26th June and the famous Worstead festival on 30th-31st July. Hoveton Hall is just around the corner and has some amazing gardens to stroll round. Also very close by is Wroxham Barns which has a farmyard, amusement rides, garden centre, specialist shops and a restaurant (which sells the most amazing full English breakfast!). Further on but still only 3 miles from the cottage is Wroxham, the heart of the broads. There you can hire a boat, canoe, bike or walk along the river sampling the restaurants and cafes. It is also where you can board the Bure Valley Railway, which is Norfolk's longest fifteen inch gauge line running between Wroxham and Aylsham. The 18 mile round trip takes you through the picturesque Bure valley countryside following the river and stops occasionally at small country villages. Also within 3 miles is Coltishall, a lovely village on the river Bure, housing antiques shops and pubs with outdoor seating on the riverside. You are also only 10 miles from the famous North Norfolk coastline. Whether you're looking for large expanses of sand, walking along sand dunes or marshland, bird/ seal watching or water sports the Norfolk coastline has them all. Just over an hour's drive takes you to Southwold, a typical Victorian seaside town with a modern take on the classic arcades. We can't not talk about North Norfolk without mentioning the National Trust sites; Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall, Sheringham Park and finally Blakeney Point. We also have some super golf courses which we have played on and will be able to recommend to you. Finally, the Georgian town of Holt is also not far away and is a must to sample its quirky shops, pubs and galleries.

"I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree", inspired the creation of this magical Arts & Crafts-style treehouse. Set in woodland in the Waveney Valley, and naturally formed around growing trees, The Treehouse offers you a truly cosy, romantic retreat which oozes charm. Inspired by stained glass & bespoke wood craft, this experienced Airbnb superhost, together with Round Craft, an acclaimed artisan build company, have created a playful hideaway with a surprise behind the wardrobe.
We have put a whole year of love into this great escape; specifically designed for the Airbnb traveller who loves luxurious and quirky spaces with a difference. There aren't many treehouses which can boast having central heating, a flushing toilet and a cascade shower. Please note, the house is solar-powered so you can charge your phone but we haven't the voltage to power a TV, iron or hairdryer! The kitchen has a four ring gas hob but NO OVEN. The sitting room area has places to lounge and talk into the night, but does not have a TV. This is a space to truly find yourselves again. Plentiful interesting books and candles help to adorn a romantic atmosphere. Set on a 40 acre hobby farm with free-range animals a stone's throw from your door, the Treehouse possesses numerous touches to inspire and make you smile. This hand-built house will bring a sense of fun and tranquility to your stay - set in it's own little private piece of woodland near the host's house. Should you be a larger group, we would recommend you check out my other listing... an authentic Mongolian yurt sited in the field next door. Great for larger families or groups of friends.
Set in the beautiful Waveney Valley, between two lovely market towns of Beccles and Bungay, you can hire a boat on the Broads, take a tour of a vineyard or hike the Angles Way- all on your doorstep.

Philip's place is located in Holme-next-the-Sea, England, United Kingdom. You are staying a few minutes walk from Holme Beach - at the last house on Beach Road (the original Peddars Way) - so can swim in the sea at dawn, during the day, at dusk or even by the starlight. Walk with your dog for miles. You'll be right by the Norfolk Coastal path, Holme Dunes National Nature Reserve, the Bird Observatory and the Hunstanton Golf Club championship links course. You can hear the sea from your front door. We are in a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), where the Wash meets the North Sea. It's a couple of minutes to the Norfolk Coastal path - so walkers walk to Thornham, Brancaster or further and hop back on the bus which drops you at the top of Beach Road on the A149. You'll soak in the dunes, marsh and sea - or walk along the Hun river and see resident and migrating birds. You could also hear the natterjack toads and see butterflies, moths and dragonflies, as well as a large number of interesting plants including mulleins flowering in our wild garden. If you are a golfer, you can play Hunstanton Golf Club's superb championship links course. It's 125 years old and rated as one of Britain & Ireland's 'Top 100' courses, with the rolling fairways nestling in a stunning landscape of dunes and links grassses. You can also play at the Heacham Manor. If you secure a round at the Royal West Norfolk Golf Club at Brancaster, you'll need to park your car and walk when the tide is high. Various military remains from WWII can be seen at Holme, including the remains of a target-railway used to train artillery. Much earlier remains have also been discovered including an ancient walkway, Roman pottery and saxon fishtraps. In 1998, a well-preserved Bronze Age timber circle, now known as ‘Seahenge’ was uncovered by high tides. The timbers were treated in the Mary Rose laboratory and are now in the museum at King's Lynn. King's Lynn was a Hanseatic town - and is worth a visit. Seahenge 2 is difficult to discern - and often covered by sand. Walk to the cliffs at Hunstanton for fossil hunting and to see one of 2 boat wrecks easily visible at low tide. The other is on Holme Beach between Gore Point and the Firs. Birdwatchers may see wintering thrushes on the sea buckthorn, or avocets, a beautiful black-and-white wader with upturned bill and long legs, on the freshwater. Wheatears and warblers are common in spring and finches and thrushes in the autumn - sometimes there'll be scarcer migrants such as the ring ouzel, wryneck, yellow-browed warbler or barred warbler. It's a great place to seawatch for gannets, skuas, terns and divers. Knot, golden plover and oyster catchers can be seen on the beach. Our wild garden is alive - with our sparrows and starlings nesting in the roof. It makes the front door and the bench a little untidy sometimes! If they have a safe migration, you will also hear the cuckoos in spring and the turtledoves in summer. ✯ 2019: Cuckoos arrived safely - and one is still calling in July. ✯ The turtledove have safely arrived from their perilous migration. You'll hear their distinctive purring and may be lucky enough see them too. ✯ On warmer nights, the Natterjack toads call. ✯ This is the only part of the east coast of England where the sun sets over the sea, providing lovely views in both summer and winter. Our favourite places to see the sunset are a stroll up the coastal path to Gore Point, or a few minutes over the golf course to a seat on the top of dunes. Visit one of the great houses - Sandringham (the Queen's residence), Holkham Hall, Houghton ( the Henry Moore exhibition), Felbrigg, Blickling Hall and Oxburgh Hall. Great communication and everything was so easy, from check in to departure. The studio is comfortable, cosy and absolutely gorgeous, even better than the photos!" "Delightful accommodation in a lovely setting and perfect location. If you are looking for a place that has the feeling of being miles from anywhere but which has a pub/restaurant and bus stop a shortish walk away, this is for you. A longer walk along the beach will provide you with even more choice of places to eat and drink. Truly ‘the best of both worlds’." "A real gem! Very cosy and comfortable accommodation in a brilliant location. Spotlessly clean with plenty of throws and personal touches to make you feel at home and welcome. The host is friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I will definitely be returning." "Book this place now!! It was great, me and my girlfriend stayed here for one night and we really wish we had stayed longer! Location is quiet, right next to the beach, a 3 minute walk. We walked down to the beach last night and it was beautiful, empty and great. We didn't meet Ermine, but communication was fantastic, check in details were great and amenities are perfect. Book this place now, it's perfect." "We had a wonderful time in this lovely place - it has everything you need and beautiful coastal surroundings for exploring and walking. Ermine is a really thoughtful host and there are many thoughtful touches such as a well stocked bathroom cabinet, dresser stocked with teas and coffee and the microwave oven. If you need a peaceful getaway this is it!" ✯✯✯✯✯

A pet friendly brick and flint cottage in the heart of Happisburgh on the Norfolk coast. The Gig House is perfect for summer breaks or winter escapes alike and is ideally located just 10 minutes from a glorious sandy beach.
The Gig House sleeps: 2 adults and a baby/toddler. We welcome pets - up to 2 large or medium dogs or 3 small dogs, 2 cats and any pet in a cage - and charge £25 per dog or cat per visit. We live across the courtyard and, hopefully, will be there to welcome you and to deal with any questions or requests at any time during your stay. It is located in one of Norfolk's most picturesque coastal villages. The village itself is now famous for the oldest evidence of human activity outside of Africa with footprints discovered on the beach to be over 900 thousand years old. The cosy local pub, within 50 yards of the cottage, echoes the local connection with Sherlock Holmes author Arthur Conan Doyle who visited many times and wrote one of the detective mysteries here. There is also a small shop and post office in the village. In fact the local villagers will proudly boast of the number of other illustratrious visitors who have been drawn to this unique place from Robinson Cruso author Daniel Defoe, cricketer W.C. Grace, sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, poet John Betjeman, writer PD James and even the Queen Mother once arriving by helocopter to visit a cousin who lived in the village. The village is a must for those who enjoy the English countryside and its beaches in all seasons. Parking is in the courtyard or on the very quiet lane outside the house. Bus stop 20 m from Albion Cottage but with an infrequent country service. Train station 7 miles away. All week long bookings start on a Saturday and short breaks start on a Monday or Friday, except at Christmas. We do not accept short breaks (less than a week) at peak times (school holidays). Out of season we can be more flexible with length of stay and start day. If you have a larger party this property can be booked in conjunction with Albion Cottage at a special rate (property also on Airbnb).

There is a nature reserve in the village which has a thatched visitor centre on stilts at the end of a boardwalk which overlooks Ranworth Broad. The rare swallowtail butterfly can often be seen in the garden. Ranworth church which you can see from the property is known as the 'Cathedral of the Broads'. Oystercatcher is a charming, traditional two bedroom Norfolk fisherman’s cottage situated on the High Street just a short stroll from Blakeney Quay and all of the village amenities. Perfect for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life this property has been recently updated and now has all of the modern requirements required whilst retaining every bit of its coastal cottage charm.
Upon entering the cottage in to a long entrance hallway you will find the living room on your right with a lovely, comfy sofa, and arm chair perfect for snuggling up in front of the gorgeous wood burning stove. In the corner is a dining table that will comfortably seat four. Neutrally decorated and opened up to the kitchen, this room feels very light, airy and welcoming. From the living room, down a small step is the traditional, small but well-equipped kitchen which has an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a dishwasher and a fridge freezer. The kitchen is tastefully decorated and allows access back through to the entrance hall off which is the ground floor shower room and the door out to the wonderful enclosed courtyard garden which has a pretty table and chairs set, perfect for sitting and sipping a glass of wine on a warm sunny evening. Back inside and to the front of the house is the good sized double bedroom. Up the original, steep ‘Norfolk Winder’ cottage stairs from the sitting room is the large twin bedroom which looks out over the high street. This room has a good sized en-suite bathroom. There is a pull out bed that we can set up in the upstairs twin bedroom to sleep 3 guests. Extra charge applies.
Surrounding area Blakeney must be one of the most sought after coastal villages in North Norfolk. The whole coastal area, much of it owned by The National Trust, is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, attracting both sailing enthusiasts and ornithologists. The village retains a unique atmosphere with many of the old mariners’ and merchants’ houses remaining in its narrow streets with others tucked away in flint walled alleyways. The main street runs down to the Quay with its salt marsh and channels, with Blakeney Point beyond. There is a surprisingly wide selection of shops, public houses and hotels. A wider range of amenities can be found in the Georgian town of Holt, about 5 miles to the south.

A cosy, two story annexe with fully functional kitchen, including a washing machine for guests sole use and cosy log burner in the living room. Guests are within walking distance of a fantastic gastro pub, should you not feel like cooking. https://www.theboars.co.uk Perfect for access to Wymondham and Norwich, or as a stop off on the way to the beautiful Norfolk Broads or beaches. Guests have off street parking directly outside the annexe.
Please note that the annexe has a stone staircase between floors and also low ceilings upstairs. I advise that owing to the stone staircase, this property may not be suitable if guests have young children who are mobile, or if any guests have vision or mobility impairment. The property has a free standing bath tub, but does not have a shower. I can provide a travel cot, or an extra single mattress if needed.
Spooner Row is a quiet rural town, however is within reach of the city of Norwich, which has many great restaurants and bars. I am happy to give recommendations. I also strongly recommend the local pub, The Boars, in Spooner Row https://www.theboars.co.uk

Bears Cottage is situated in the centre of a private 200 acre woodland - the only dwelling within the wood. Built in the 1850's, the house has just been fully restored. Guests can enjoy the surrounding woodland & over 10 miles of tracks within it during their stay. Bears Cottage's isolation gives it absolute peace and privacy, a chance to escape the busy world in which we live with the Norfolk Coastline only 8 miles away. Perfect for Couples, Families, Wildlife enthusiasts and Pets.
Week Bookings: Custom weekly prices apply with weeks ranging from £1100 - £2295. Please enquire for short break pricing options. Bears Cottage was built in 1856 as a Woodman's house for workers on the Holkham Estate. The 2nd Earl of Leicester was a large collector of tree species and the woodland was used as an experimental plot for many different species of tree new to the country. Many of these still stand today and are some of the largest of their species in the country for example Giant Redwoods and Noble Firs. The woodland is home to a large number of bird and animal species. The Cottage has been restored throughout 2016 to give it everything required for a modern high standard holiday let. Bike rental is also available - see below for details.
Bears Cottage is well situated for exploring the surrounding beauty of Norfolk. Within half an hour you have almost the entire North Norfolk coastline and beaches, with all the pubs and villages that make this part of England famous; Holt, Wells, Brancaster, Salthouse, Blakeney, Holkham, Burnham Market to name just a few. There are a large number of famous Nature Reserves such as Titchwell, Pensthorpe, Strubshaw Fen and Blakeney for a start! There are also many Stately Homes and Gardens within easy reach such as Felbrigg, Blickling, Holkham, Houghton. This area of Norfolk has something for everyone including of course the woodland you have surrounding you.
