About the only public place in Indiana where you can sit, relax, and enjoy a drink while right on the Lake Michigan beach. Sunsets are quite lovely from the top deck of their pavilion.

Every spring and fall, the majestic Sandhill Cranes choose JP as a stopover point on their semi-annual migration. At the peak of the migration, you stand in JP's observation area and see over 10,000 of these four-foot-tall birds together in one marshy field. At sunset, the skies are filled with flock after flock, flying in V-formation, coming into the field to nest for the night. It's a must for any nature lover.
