Restaurants and bars

These are some of my favourite places to eat in Guadix and nearby
A friendly and handy local bar and restaurant perfect for a beer, a coffee or a set lunch for a great price. It’s open from about 11am to late afternoon and is a short walk from the cave. It has a little terrace out the front and inside the tables are in a cave.

This is perhaps the best traditional tapas bar in town, with great barrels of wine and ham hanging from the ceiling. It is down a street in a newer part of town but very friendly with an owner who speaks good English. Try a glass of local wine here.

Quite simply one of the most jaw-dropping buildings in Spain. A castle on the outside it is a renaissance wonder inside - it’s open on Wednesdays from 10am but worth seeing on the outside even if you don’t get in. The road up goes through a farm and is terrible. don’t be put off. You can also park at the hotel opposite and walk.
