Marino Las Baulas National Park (approximately 22 kilometers) is the nesting ground for thousands of Leatherback turtles who make the journey every year to this national park. Marino las Baulas National Park protects 174 species of birds and is home to the white ibis, the cattle egret, the blue-winged teal, the muscovy duck, capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, raccoons, crocodiles, pacas and grey squirrels.

Marino Las Baulas National Park (approximately 22 kilometers) is the nesting ground for thousands of Leatherback turtles who make the journey every year to this national park. Marino las Baulas National Park protects 174 species of birds and is home to the white ibis, the cattle egret, the blue-winged teal, the muscovy duck, capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, raccoons, crocodiles, pacas and grey squirrels.
Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park (73 kilometers) has two volcanoes, 32 rivers and streams, and an incredible variety of flora and fauna. The wildlife at Rincon includes kinkajous, pumas, a variety of monkeys, sloths, tapirs, and jaguars. Rare emerald toucanets and blue-crowned motmots can also be seen. Various water features are major attractions at the park and include a freshwater lagoon, waterfalls, hot springs, and boiling mud pits.
