REALLY delicious Laotian food - definitely don't miss it if you like pork, seafood, and/or spicy food. You will likely need a reservation, so be sure to take care of that before you arrive or at the start of your trip!

Bakery and coffee shop by day, quaint candlelit dinner place by night. If you need to post up and answer a few emails, this can be a good place. At night, you'll need reservations.

DC is known for its Ethiopian food, and this is our favorite Ethiopian place in DC. It is extremely affordable and delicious, but is pretty small. If you go at a typical dinner time you will probably have to wait (~20-30 min?) We recommend going for an early dinner (5:30 or 6:00pm). They do not take reservations.

Drinks & Nightlife

This is one of the oldest dive bars in the city. It is the opposite of fancy (cash only, limited selection), but it does have a rundown sort of charm and we did see Senator Chris Murphy there once!

Entertainment & Activities

Sun's Cinema is more like a bar with popcorn that shows a film on the wall. It is 50% kitsch and 50% camp = 100% awesome. They play old films, documentaries, stuff from the 90's, horror, etc. Just check the schedule: https://sunscinema.com/

Parks & Nature

We used to live right next to this park and still go. It is a beautiful park with multiple little paths, statues, and people working out, etc. It is really nice in the spring and summer when everything is green and the fountains are operating! In the warmer months (when there is nice weather) there is a huge drum circle and dance party every Sunday at ~3pm. Bring some lunch and hang out with the locals.
