There is a great walk along the water of Leith, starting at Saunders street. You can pass the famous St Bernards Well and the route takes you to the Gallery of Modern art - or you can continue all the way to the end of the city!

Sightseeing

One of the most famous sights in Edinburgh - a castle built on an extinct volcano. It is worth walking up to the esplanade for panoramic views of the city - even if you do not want to tour the castle you can enter the drawbridge areas (where you would buy tickets) and have a look at the first section. There are also free public toilets here - good if you have been out walking for a while
