Great trucker diner within walking distance from my house. Don't let the exterior fool you (look for the pink pig in the sky) The Albanian couple who run this joint with their son are the sweetest, super funny and hustle hard! Everyone I've sent there loves this place! Huge portions, most delicious ham ever. I go with the ham and cheese omelette and I’m full for the day!
Pop a squat at the counter and chat with some friendly locals.

PizzaPlex is the best pizza place you can find in the D right here in Southwest. They had people fly in from Italy to certify its authenticity! What?! YES.
They use the finest ingredients yet they’re affordable, inclusive and friendly towards the community! It’s a small, low-key spot but a must if you are craving italian cocktails, pizza, dessert or Italian wine in a uniquely Detroit setting. An absolute must.

Authentic Yemen cuisine within walking distance. I’d go with any of their lamb dishes. Everything tastes amazing and healthy. As soon as you turn left at the end of Woodmere (Vernor) you’re going to feel like you’re in the Middle East for sure.

Shout out to the city within the City of Detroit - Hamtramck! Hamtramck used to be home to mainly Polish immigrants and now has quite the Bangladeshi population.
