It is great for tourists because it has a great view. Fun fact: Don't miss out on using the bathrooms there. It has a window wall in front of you but because the place is so far up, nobody can see you.

Rather fancy but nice interior design with large ceilings. Was founded in 1916. It's also a club (check out the website http://cafesinger.ch/ ).

It is a unique cozy place with local homemade food.Definitely would recommend to drink coffee there and maybe treat yourself to a quiché or some delicious cake or waffles with ice cream (they are famous for the best ice cream in town). They are also vegan-friendly.

Also a small and cozy café, I'd also definitely recommend. They mostly speak French (but of course also English and German) there, so it is one of the places around here, where you really realize how close this district to other countries is.

There's a café right above the Confiserie (bakery), which is typically Swiss. Watch out: it can be quite crowded sometimes and it is definitely pricey. However, it is right in front of our famous red town hall and if you get a window seat you'll have an amazing view.

The coffee will be as expensive as one from Starbucks (about 7 Francs here) but I've heard it is an overall nice experience. It's a famous beautiful old hotel right at the Rhine river.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. They have a buffet with all kinds of exotic and local high-quality food. It can also quite pricey but it's definitely worth it! Also very vegan-friendly.

It is a big hall with lots of separate stands with (street-) food from all over the world. You can even eat deep-friend grass-hoppers and worms there.

A unique and interesting museum, even if you're not very into art. Jean Tinguely makes installations, which you can see all over Basel (one is right in front of the Basel Theatre).

This is the unique museum of toys. It has four stages and it's a paradise for children of course (most children from all over Switzerland have seen it). At least take a few seconds to look at the showcases there, they're amazing.
