Why we love Hendersonville:
What to eat:
Breakfast: Mean Mr. Mustard (right down Kanuga, you can walk, best breakfast in town). Hendough (good donuts and atmosphere).
Lunch: Hot Dog World (only accepts cash, but it’s delicious and cheap). There are several great restaurants open for lunch on Main Street.
Dinner: our favorites are Brandy’s and Shine (they are a bit more expensive but totally worth it). UMI is good sushi, and everyone loves West First (pizza and pasta). There are other excellent options on Main Street also.
Drinks: Dry Falls Brewing (you can walk, just down the hill) generally has a food truck. The Poe House has good drinks and appetizers. Appalachian Coffee Company (they serve wine and beer as well). Burntshirt & St. Paul’s Vineyards are a short drive away, with wine tastings daily.
For Kids:
Laurel Park down 5th Avenue is great for kids to run around and it’s nice and shady. Flat Rock Park near Highland Lake has walking trails and a cool playground with a net. Hands on Museum is good for rainy days, but tops out at about 6 years old.
Local Attractions:
Jump Off Rock – amazing views; Dupont State Forest – has beautiful waterfalls (Triple Falls and Hooker Falls); Sierra Nevada Brewery is about 20 minutes toward Asheville with food and the best brewery experience in Western North Carolina; Biltmore Estate is about 40 minutes away in Asheville – the largest home in America.
