This is an old school, pretty ugly, prosaic plaza. We go to Coles for the Coles Radio which always gets us humming. Don't forget to take your own bags. Also take a sweet tooth because across the way from Coles in the plaza is Europa - baklava and all sorts of treats are for sale and much cheaper than elsewhere.

The address linked is not our local Torres, which is much closer on Bulwer St, a quick hop away from home. It is a traditional butcher's shop with cheerful and old school staff. We've ordered pheasant, turkey but any kind of meat you enjoy, you will find here, as well as staple groceries like milk, Italian crusty bread, eggs, cheeses, oils, pastas, veges [often from their own backyard gardens]. Their continental rolls are a bargain if you need something to munch on during a day wandering the city.

Sightseeing
We like to drop into Reabold Hill on our way to the beach sometimes, even after many years living in Perth as locals. The changing seasons bring new flowers or wildlife in this high point along the coast. Get your bearings as you look over the coastal plain, the city, the coast line and breath in the smell of the coastal plain natural world. There are various paths that cut through the bush and take you down to the City Beach main swimming spots. Don't worry, you can cafe and take a few breaths before walking back up the hill to your car.

The easiest beach to get to from home is City Beach - just follow Vincent Street for ten kms and you will bump into the Indian Ocean's waves and the whitest sand around. There is lawn areas under some trees if the sand is burning up in summer, and that's a pleasant place to while away the hours with a book, a picnic and some cooling dips. It has life guards on hand and if you feel like taking the old boogie board hung up out the front of our house and giving it a whirl in the waves, City Beach is a good place to do that.
Clancy's, an unfussy [as in you can wear sandy shoes and casual wear] restaurant/ bar presides over the beach. It's great for breakfast juices too.
