Here are some of our favorite things to do in the area
A must-see, gorgeous waterfall. It’s called “Dry Falls” because you can walk behind the waterfall and not get wet. I think they recently added a small parking fee.

Turn right from the cabin driveway and just before you get to the valley area, turn left on Walkingstick Rd, which will turn into Big Creek Rd. It’s 3.2 miles to the Secret Falls Trail Head. It’s a relatively easy and short hike to some gorgeous falls.

Secret Falls Trail Head
Big Creek RoadTurn right from the cabin driveway and just before you get to the valley area, turn left on Walkingstick Rd, which will turn into Big Creek Rd. It’s 3.2 miles to the Secret Falls Trail Head. It’s a relatively easy and short hike to some gorgeous falls.
The Chattooga River was designated as a "Wild & Scenic River" by Congress in 1974. From main intersection of U.S. Hwy-64/ N.C. Hwy-28 in Highlands, NC drive through main street until the road turns into Horse Cove Road (just past Mtn. Fresh Grocery on your Right). Drive for 4.5 miles until you come to a fork in the road at a Brown mileage sign. Take the Right onto "Bull Pen Rd." and travel for 3 miles to the Chattooga River and Iron Bridge. There is parking along the roadside and at the bridge. If you’re coming from the cabin, take a right onto Whiteside Cove Rd (which turns into Horse Cove Road) and look for the “Bull Pen Rd” road on your left.

This is a great place on any day, but especially warm days because kiddos and adults alike can enjoy a fun natural rock slide. If that's not your thing, enjoy wading in the water. It's beautiful and less than 2 miles from the cabin. At the bottom of the driveway, turn left onto Whiteside Cove Rd. It’s located approximately 2 miles down, on the left. There’s a small gravel parking lot with a tree in the middle of it. You’ll generally see lots of cars there.

Cashiers Sliding Rock
This is a great place on any day, but especially warm days because kiddos and adults alike can enjoy a fun natural rock slide. If that's not your thing, enjoy wading in the water. It's beautiful and less than 2 miles from the cabin. At the bottom of the driveway, turn left onto Whiteside Cove Rd. It’s located approximately 2 miles down, on the left. There’s a small gravel parking lot with a tree in the middle of it. You’ll generally see lots of cars there.

This restaurant is TOP-NOTCH. Delicious and can take a month to get a reservation, depending on the time of year. It's perfect for special occasions and on the pricier side.

Neighborhoods
Well, we aren't in a neighborhood, which is the best part! We are a secluded log cabin at the top of a driveway, which is about .3 miles long. However we do have neighbors...and while they are out of sight, voices do carry, so please respect our year-round friends.
