Places to eat, places to go in Ukee
Eating In
There is a Grocery Store in Ukee located on the main road called the Co-Op, that has everything you need but it a little pricier due to the delivery costs. If you are planning on doing some eating in you might want to stock up in Port Alberni on your way.

See the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse
One of the most photographed lighthouses on the West Coast of Canada! The Lighthouse was actually even the default background for the Windows 7 Operating System installed on over 400 million computers. From the 100+ year old historic Lighthouse, one can view the Pacific Oceans wild waves, stunning sunsets, and even
catch a glimpse of the spray from whales on the horizon or maybe witness bald eagles in all their soaring glory. All from this one spot on the edge of the West Coast.
Big Beach is located by turning right on Marine Drive and walking about 10 minutes. You will see a trail off to your left just before the fancy condos.
Little Beach is located by turning left on Marine Drive and then right on Peninsula Road. It is about a 5 minute walk. Great for kayaking or a quick dip. Keep going and you will get to the historic lighthouse site.
Bring your bikes as we have an amazing bike path that goes straight from our edge of town all the way along the forest edge to the Pacific Rim Visitor Center at the Junction of Hwy 4. Cycling in Ucluelet is family friendly on a dedicated bike path.
For the more advanced athletic cyclist, the ride from Ucluelet to Tofino is amazing. This is a serious bike ride. It is just over 42km (85km round trip) and leads out of town on Peninsula Rd to the main Junction and then along to Highway 4 towards Tofino. You will pass along the edge of the forest and then through the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
The bike ride along the Highway is permitted, but please be sure to use caution if biking on the shoulder of this road to Tofino. Advanced cyclists only.
Please note that cycling is not allowed on the Wild Pacific Trail nor on any of the walking trails in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, but if you wait until low tide you can joyfully cruise the hard-packed sands of Long Beach.
For the mountain biking enthusiasts, there is an extensive web of backcountry trails around Ucluelet that will be an excellent adventure for you. You can purchase a Vancouver Island Back Roads Map book from many of the local retailers for more info on where these trails are located. Please be mindful and prepared for potential wildlife encounters as we do share our environment. There is also a BMX trail park on Matterson Drive, next to the Community Center in Ucluelet, for those who are so inclined to take their bikes for a bit more of a wild ride.
