Swanage Railway - Swanage Station
Swanage is built around the river Swanbrook which goes out to sea from the Mowlem.
It is said that visitors to Swanage may be forgiven for thinking that they are still in London or that swanage is a Little London. This is because,Mr Mowlem and Mr Burt were influential figures in the area transporting Purbeck stone to London and to avoid returning with empty ships they filled their hulls with ballast. These were unwanted artifacts from London. Look around Swanage, our town hall is that from the masonic hall in London, many bollards around come straight from the streets of London.
My husband Tony is very knowledgeable on all of this, ask him for further stories.

How did they build it all those years ago? Truly jaw dropping and how does it still in it's precarious state. Loads of history to learn here And stunning views from high up across to the 2nd largest natural harbour in the world after Sidney! Not a lot of people know that!! Tea n scones in the Nat trust tea room afterwards. Ah do we do the jam first or the cream first in Dorset? I will leave you to find out:-)

The recent Bbc film with David Attenborough has highlighted the excavation of the sea monster that brought together Steve Etches and other locals to achieve this before it fell into the sea.
Already Steve Etches had been collecting fossils since a boy, is the pinnacle of his fossil hunting? Judge for yourself!
Clavells restaurant is over the road and comes highly recommended. Book to be sure of a table in the evening.
