Take a great family hike to the locals' favourite hill next to Ljubljana called Šmarna gora. It’s a 45 minute ascend and you can see the whole of Ljubljana valley from there. They also serve sweet little fried dough balls called ‘’Miške’’ that are a local delicacy in the little village atop the hill.

This cave is such a magnificent, otherworldly experience and it’s perfect to visit with kids as there is a train ride going through it. If you are lucky you can also spot the endemic baby dragons (človeška ribica) that live in the cave.
