The Peekskill telegraph office was then located here in the 1860s. A small stage, built on the 3rd floor in 1870, was identified as the “Dramatic Hall.” The street level retail store, known as Durrin Brothers, provided hardware supplies starting around 1880. This business became Kurzhals Brothers Hardware in 1920. Later on, the Capital Glass Company operated here in the 1970s and 80s.
This space now houses shops and an event space. The Dramatic Hall serves as a space to host weddings, private parties, plays, live music performances and more.

In addition to swimming, campers and day trippers can fish in or tour Canopus Lake by rowboats, which are available for rental by the hour or the day. The scenic campground, formed along the park's natural rock ridges, provides alcoves of privacy and tranquility for campers. Each of the 80 campsites has a picnic table, charcoal grill, and fire ring.

Bear Mountain State Park is situated in rugged mountains rising from the west bank of the Hudson River. The park features a large play field, shaded picnic groves, lake and river fishing access, a swimming pool, Trailside Museums and Zoo, hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails. An outdoor rink is open to ice skaters from late October through mid-March. The Perkins Memorial Tower atop Bear Mountain affords spectacular views of the park, the Hudson Highlands and Harriman State Park. Perkins Memorial Drive and Tower are open from April through late November, weather permitting.

3006 Seven Lakes DriveBear Mountain State Park is situated in rugged mountains rising from the west bank of the Hudson River. The park features a large play field, shaded picnic groves, lake and river fishing access, a swimming pool, Trailside Museums and Zoo, hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails. An outdoor rink is open to ice skaters from late October through mid-March. The Perkins Memorial Tower atop Bear Mountain affords spectacular views of the park, the Hudson Highlands and Harriman State Park. Perkins Memorial Drive and Tower are open from April through late November, weather permitting.

The longest elevated pedestrian bridge in the world, Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park is perched 212 feet above the Hudson River, offering spectacular panoramic views of the valley. It spans the Hudson River between the City of Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County on the east and the Town of Lloyd, Highland, in Ulster County on the west.
Picnic tables, bathrooms, benches, bike racks, and food and beverage concession stands are available at both east and west entrances. Limited free parking is available on both sides, along with paid parking in lots ($5 fee).
Go: There are two entrances to the park in the City of Poughkeepsie: 61 Parker Ave. (paved street-level access) and 130 Washington St. (40-step stairway direct to bridge entrance). On the west side of the park there is one entrance: 87 Haviland Road, Highland. Or use any of the Dutchess Rail Trail or Hudson Valley Rail Trail trailheads to access the Walkway by bicycle.
