Local bus service is one of the best in the country

Look on the website for the type of ticket which suits you best. You can download their app and buy tickets/passes, pay in exact change or pay via contactless (visa) as you get on. Try to make sure you know where you are going and how you intend to pay before getting on though - the town is very busy during festival season and everyone wants to get going! www.lothianbuses.com Plenty of Black taxis available from train stations and hotels are happy to call them for you, Uber also operates here as well as plenty of private hire cabs available to pre-book.

British people like to queue

When waiting for a bus, to be seated at a restaurant etc make sure to wait behind the person in front or to make sure they arent waiting for the next bus arriving before trying to get on! Manners go a long way! Also wait for people to get off before trying to get on!

Museums are free!

National Museum of Scotland, Scottish National Galleries and St Giles Cathedral are all worth a visit. The Water of Leith is right next to the modern art gallery which is free depending on what is on and is a great walk along the water.
